OK folks, I'm sorry; I'm obviously wrong about Sam Gilbert. I take my previous comment back. In my defense, I only have the radio to listen to here.
I would be very happy for Gilbert to have a great year in 2012.

Bloody Hell. Turnover straight to opposition, time and time again. It seems like we are the architects of this downfall here.

Re: NAB Challenge R4 Magpies v Saints GAME THREAD
The score of this game is irrelevant. All that matters is the play.
Nice to hear the commentators ridiculing our players too: hey a-holes, how about I ridicule your pathetic use of the English language?

WTF, criticising Saad's run up to kick for goal. He kicked it didn't he? Collingwood have kicked a lot of points.

Re: NAB Challenge R4 Magpies v Saints GAME THREAD
so Pies slowing or Saints improving or a combinations
or Did Scott and Nathan deciede pies first half and saints second.
Good on Saints for continuing to " pressure"

Re: NAB Challenge R4 Magpies v Saints GAME THREAD
One thing that the Pies did really well last year and 2010 is the tactic of scoring goals directly after a point from great forward pressure from kick ins. This essentially meant that they could just bomb towards goals in the knowledge that even that they don't get their accuracy right, it will probably be a 7pt score for a lot of behinds.

I think each team had 3 changes but they haven't been shown on the Match Centre. Simpkin, Peake and Milera came in for us. Not sure who went out. I would guess Hayes, Blake, and Milne or McEvoy.

Hmm really wished we showed something this Pre Season and prove me wrong. Going to be a long year though. (thoughts arent based purely on NAB Cup)

Re: NAB Challenge R4 Magpies v Saints GAME THREAD
Well I'm not too downhearted, but I'd say that Watters & co have their work cut out to avoid a pretty poor start. I am aware that it's just a praccie but it was just a praccie for the Pies too (and the Eagles).
Disposals and Backline organisation seem like our most urgent concerns. We've got a couple of weeks to sort it out, but it's really disappointing to hear about the lack of match fitness. First 4 games are going to be interesting. Port Power away, then the Suns and the Dogs at home before our grudge match with the purple gang at the Docklands.
We have to get some momentum from those games.
By the way, I'm sure P66 would be delighted to see so many copycats out there stealing his retorts, trying to emulate the same blend of sarcasm and gritty realism. For me though, it's a bit sad. It's like admitting that you've got nothing to say. Plugger66 at least has something to say, and he's not emulating anyone.

We lost by 80 points to port in pre seasons last game
In 2009.
Need i remind everyone preseason means nothing. Luckily we have port gcoast bulldogs freo at home for our first montj of footy. Enough time to get things together. We are all fit and ready. We will be 4-0 where we go from there is anyones guess.

Trust me I was at the game, Gilbo barely missed a target all day, he kicked one floater but the rest were all effectiveAustinnn wrote:BringBackMadDog wrote:Ridiculous comment. Gilbo has been in our best 2 or 3 along with Geary. Jones has been one of our only clearance winners, unfortunately his kicking lets him down. We were actually a bit better in the 3rd qtr. Milera can play!!Austinnn wrote:Gilbert and Jones seem like liabilities at the moment - they're looking at a crossroads in their future right now. If they continue where they left off last year, they're goners.
Hmmm, perhaps. All I'm hearing is Collingwood giving Gilbert some space to mess it up and turn it over, Jones disposal seems to be counter productive too. Call me spoilt, but I don't just want our players getting the ball, I want them doing good things with it too.
Disposal seems to be our biggest problem, just like last year, and it will take more than a new head coach to change that. Let's get to work, St Kilda.
