Instead of having a long drawn out post. I have watched the same thing from St.Kilda for 10 years. We win the ball on half-back but have no one forward of the ball to kick it to.
What happens, we kick it directly to a defender, or put ourselves under pressure and make terrible skill errors, it's been our problem for a long time.
However, the last half of that quarter was much better and it was great to see Max take two good contested marks and kick 2 goals.

We look so much better going thru the middle instead of bombing long down the line off halfback.

We have a few more problems than what you have pointed out
the way we move the ball is haphazard. We need stronger bodies down that middle and that’ll happen later when they build muscle in the gym but at the moment we can’t run with the ball and move freely.
Like other teams, Melbourne are muscling us off the ball

This is going to be controversial but Steele needs to be relieved of the Captaincy, he's part of our midfield problem, he's Seb Ross 2.0.

He also just doesn't do anything to get his team going, even King shows more emotion after kicking a goal and that's saying something.
