Re: Dylan Shiel
Just came across one report saying we’re no longer interested in getting Shiel since he went in for surgery.

Re: Dylan Shiel
I reckon it's the opposite. We said we weren't interested then they pulled the curtain back and decided to get him right for next year.Sainternist wrote: ↑Mon 09 Oct 2023 7:15pm Just came across one report saying we’re no longer interested in getting Shiel since he went in for surgery.
Like putting chemweld into a car with a buggered head gasket before selling it. Essendon the dodgiest of used car salesmen.

Re: Dylan Shiel
Slight point of order - we got Band 2 compo for Gresham. Band 1 is when you receive the pick straight after your 1st pick; Band 2 is at the end of the 1st round.B.M wrote: ↑Mon 09 Oct 2023 8:37pm Have Essendon got an unlimited cap?!

Essendon have space in their cap because Andrew Welsh has a big bag of cash for all the newcomers

Re: Dylan Shiel
Are we still interested in Shiel? That is the question. Not sure of the answer.
When RTB was asked, this is what he said:
“Well as a club, we don't sort of conduct our business in the media.
“There's a lot of noise around it.
“I know he missed the last 10 rounds with quite a few injuries.
“It (the noise) certainly wasn't generated from us.
“So I'm not sure where that's all come from, to be honest.”
Not a denial in any way, shape or form.

Re: Dylan Shiel
I wouldn't rule him out or in. There is a bit to go before the close of business tomorrow.
No one from the club has, at any time, said officially we are not interested in Dylan Shiel.
The Bombers have said they have no plans to trade him. It might have been true when Dodoro said it.
Trade week is a moveable feast. Plans can change, that's all I am saying.

Re: Dylan Shiel
I hope not, would prefer we keep all of our picks and lend heavily on the draft this year.
Shiel should be deemed outside the age profile of our list build

Re: Dylan Shiel
The other question should be.
Do we have anything to trade to them for Shiel?
If someone takes Billings?
Coffield or his trade pick? Or is that already used for Dow
Ultimately it is a pretty shallow draft and if a pick is traded I believe it has to be used. My mail is most teams will be out of the draft around 3 round

Re: Dylan Shiel
The Sheil deal was only pallapable IF Bombers gave OVERS for Gresham thusly pumping up our compo...they did not want to do that after ALREADY dojng exactly this for North.
So keep Sheil's high salary, bung body and suck it.

Happy with Liam Henry and Paddy Dow so far.
Would be happy to take the rest of our picks to the draft now.

Agreed, get some quality for picks 13 and 21 then catch a slider with pick 40.samuraisaint wrote: ↑Tue 17 Oct 2023 8:03pm Happy with Liam Henry and Paddy Dow so far.

Re: Dylan Shiel
They did pay overs for Gresh didn't they? Reported as 700k a year. I reckon that's massive overs.

Re: Dylan Shiel
How do you know you get quality with picks 13 and 21
Really, in a shallow draft - and this draft is very underwhelming
Picks 13, 21, 40 are not even great picks

Def overs @700. But a 850k pay would have reaped a pick 13 ish

Get a tall at pick 40, might be ok, might be a fail, worth a shot.ace wrote: ↑Tue 17 Oct 2023 8:17pmAgreed, get some quality for picks 13 and 21 then catch a slider with pick 40.samuraisaint wrote: ↑Tue 17 Oct 2023 8:03pm Happy with Liam Henry and Paddy Dow so far.

Not a player that will go in the National draft this year, potentially rookie.Waltzing St Kilda wrote: ↑Tue 17 Oct 2023 8:24pm Pick 40 for an academy pick? Do we have one in mind this year?

Re: Dylan Shiel
Agree 100% the quality of player your getting at pick 13 is historically much closer to pick 60 than pick 1. The perceived drop off every year after the first 6-10 picks is massive. Not to say you can’t get good player with these later picks but data suggests its a lot more stab in the dark.

Let’s be realistic our 1st pick won’t be until about 17 and the of first round will be about pick 25. Hmmm how’s this equalisation really working… And why did we get access to McKenzie last year

Re: Dylan Shiel
Yep if they went up to 850k to net us band one then I would've been fine with trading pick 35 for Shiel. He was only ever coming to us as a salary dump if it improved our draft position
