Paton is a liability with the ball. Cordy is a witches hat.

Higgins comes on a lead gets blocked and held by his opponent allows his team mate to mark.
What am I missing here?

Send Steele to Cripps or get him off, clearly underdone.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Blues Round 6 2023
not a bad result for us given how many quiet players we have and the lack of reward for carlton infringements. hopefully both factors even up, and our defenders do a better job nullifying their tall forwards.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Blues Round 6 2023
We are getting SMASHED in contested possession
The guys who have been so good all year in Crouch, Seb Ross, Gresh, Sincs and even with ground balls in the back line, guys like Stocker and Hill. They've been poor today.
Note to Ross Lyon
The players aren't machines.
Rotate the workload. Classic opportunity has been wasted for a player like Bytel to announce himself today

Re: Match Thread Saints v Blues Round 6 2023
Feels like if we just cut out the basic errors we’d be 5 goals up.
Brain fades by our tall backs, Battle jumping in Curnow’s back is just plain dumb.
Butler showing his great first touch, knows what to do around goal, other small forwards can learn something.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Blues Round 6 2023
We are getting smashed really
Not sure how we are still in it
Midfield battle
Walsh 22, Cerra 21, Cripps 19
Crouch 11, Ross 9, Steele 8
Backline
Battle 5, Howard 5, Wilkie 4
Have been totally blanketed by separating key forwards

Re Thread Saints v Blues Round 6 2023
Need a real tap ruckman, even Owens looks more in control in there than Marshall.
In the old language Marshall is a big ruck river.
The fact that he couldn’t give us an advantage against a makeshift Collingwood ruck is damning.

Feel like Campbell for Cordy would have been nothing but beneficial for us today.

Hit Outs are almost irrelevant
It’s 14-11
It’s more mids positioning

Re: Match Thread Saints v Blues Round 6 2023
We still look far and away the better side for mine.
The umpires and Cripps keeping Carlton in the game. All we need to do is to hang in there for the third quarter. Then, if the umps seek to even up in the last quarter - which they normally do - and Cripps runs out of puff, we should storm home.

Apart from Cripps being amazingly good, as he so often is (apart from kicking for goal), Acres has been surprisingly good for them.
