And meanwhile back to the footy.
"Battle marked Charlie Curnow throughout the morning and kept the Carlton gun goalless in an early tick for his pre-season role change, with Bradley Hill and Jack Sinclair also providing some impressive run and drive across half-back for the Saints.
Jade Gresham and Ben Paton completed successful comebacks after both had sustained long-term injuries last season, while Jack Higgins kicked two, but it was the Blues who had more depth to sneak home to victory with an improved second-half performance."
Also from afl.com.au.

You were banned from posting as Stinger and allowed, on a very short leash, to continue as Saynta, a nic you had previously registered. A sliver of a fingernail away from an outright IP address ban.
They're the basics.
Would you like me to send you the PM's from the time to refresh your memory?

OK then!saynta wrote: ↑Thu 24 Feb 2022 1:44pm Battle a real positive.
"Towering forward performances from Tim Membrey and Max King had helped St Kilda overturn an early 27-point deficit to lead at half-time, while Josh Battle was arguably the side's best player after switching into a lockdown defensive role this summer."
Battle = Success..good.
I saw his opponent easily get away from him in the last...fortunately the opponent missed his shots. Later, when Carlton wanted to clog the game, his opponent ran to our forward line. But I read some comments about his success in the first half, so that's good.
I guess, based on the intra-club, and this, it wasn't exactly a stellar endorsement of the off-season. Did you see anything new? Membrey and Sincs, we know, are good.
Do we assume that Wood is good enough to be in the starting team?
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Give it a rest!
Our backline wasn't too bad after Q1
Midfield looked listless, including in fact, especially Steele.
Gresham and Billings both moved well, which was good to see.
Ross....not in my starting 22
Shame we didn't have any new recruits in there today.
Long looked nervous and lost
Campbell worked hard and seems fit.
Wood and Membrey both very good and mobile,
I get the feeling Wood has another gear that no-one has yet figured out how to access.
Clark, except briefly in the last quarter was disappointing, just looked tired and disinterested.
Sinclair and Hill both very good.

Re: Practice Match Carlton v St.Kilda - Ikon Park, Thursday 24th February, 10:00AM
Campbell, a massive unit, better than Hunter, probably broke even - Marshall & Ryder massive INs.
Hayes moved well, presented and is agile around the ground - must sign him as he's a very good prospect.
Crouch, Jones and Ross are not the players you want delivering the footy inside 50 - all hard at it but must give off.
Ross was the better of the three but it will cost me a telly or several blood vessels if I see him demand the football, stop our run, look backwards and then kick to a contest.
Paton, Gresham and Billings looked very good - all worked very hard
King, Sharman and Membrey need to work away from each other. All are very good one on one but too often draw their opponents on top of their team mate - they draw the long bombs by not finding separation.
Higgins & Butler were both good with their attack on opponents, chasing, harassing and presenting.
Howard for Joyce is a no brainer. Lienert should be in front of Joyce in all honesty.
Battle was very good.
Wlkie missed Howard.
Hill and Sinclair were quite good, as was Webster.
Wood's workrate was very good and showed a good pre season.
Clark I thought tried hard but ultimately too much, sometimes his fault, other times the fault of team mates who sadly appear on different wavelengths.
That first quarter was a shocker, I hope that's not a sign we are back to slow starts, better teams would have ended the game at quarter time.
A very Hawthorn style of short kicks, we need to lift our fitness and skill levels for that to work as we continue to try and draw opposition defenders up the ground.

Really hard to Glean many positives today…what makes it worse zero young players given a go.
Surely practice matches should be used to blooding some youngsters, giving them a taste!

You can do that but I have also watched a bit of training & has been pretty ordinary, todays game reflected last year in some games played one 1/4 which got us back into it but why do we give teams starts hopefully your alarm in 22 days brings us a better skill set, awareness & an ability not to give sides a start!Trev from the Bush wrote: ↑Thu 24 Feb 2022 1:19pm Just checked, it's 24 February.

I have been a Seb-bagger for years.
I don'r care about his TB awards, his time in the leadership group, etc.
I class him as a liability.
Have a look at his rubbish kicks today.
The club rewards mediocrity like him, it's no wonder we've got one damn flag.
End of rant.

Is that like 4 to Carlton this QTR already?
Whether it’s the umps, us being sloppy, or both, this is not sustainable.

It's a practice game but the constant frees for Carlton are an actual joke.
Only being paid one way.
