Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
We may have dodged a bullet if we miss out on Carlisle, WADA could still hand out a lengthy suspension, would also not pay overs for Freeman with his dodgy hammie's and Lachie Weller is unproven and may not make the grade.
Best to go to the draft this year and maybe a late punt on Bailey Rice

This deal values Jed Anderson as about a pick 27. Hawks would be well pleased with this.

Carlisle did not even make it into Essendon top 10 at their best and fairest.BadRossco wrote:We may have dodged a bullet if we miss out on Carlisle, WADA could still hand out a lengthy suspension, would also not pay overs for Freeman with his dodgy hammie's and Lachie Weller is unproven and may not make the grade.

He played 17 games for 1,134 AFL Fantasy points = 67 points average.
That is not an elite player, this is what you have when you can't get enough elite players.
His best may be great but like Koschitzke but his average is only average.
Add to that the risk of a 2 year WADA suspension and I think this is a risk too far.

North give up pick 15 = 1,112 pointsCon Gorozidis wrote:This deal values Jed Anderson as about a pick 27. Hawks would be well pleased with this.
North gets pick 41 soon to be 44 = 362 points
Means North get Anderson for 750 points
Pick 25 is worth 756 points.
Anderson worth pick 25 to North

Kozi wasn't average before his fractured skull . Difficult to play as a true full forward under Lyon game plan. Kozi was in the AFL's marketing and their signature ad had Kozi front and centre. Many considered him top 10 in the AFL prior to the dog committing a dog act.

My thoughts exactly.Playon wrote:The club needs to speak to Carlisle and ask if he's committed or not, and be informed that he's damaged negotiations in preference to his old club rather than his new. He needs to come out and say "I Only want to play for the Saints" and if he's not willing to do that, then we walk away.
Hawks can offer him 200k less a year.
I'm more than happy if we use pick 5 in the draft not worth selling the farm for
I'd rather see him walk and we pick a really good kid at 5 than cave in to Essendon and pay overs for a guy who can't even string a full season together.
We should hold our nerve and continue down the recruitment path of the last few years. It's served us very well so far.
Carlisle's a good player but he ain't that good - not in a million years.

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
yeah - thats what i said - i just used the points for pick 41 - 1112 - 412 = 700 = pick 27ace wrote:North give up pick 15 = 1,112 pointsCon Gorozidis wrote:This deal values Jed Anderson as about a pick 27. Hawks would be well pleased with this.

Anderson worth pick 25 to North
but if you say pick 41 is pick 44 thats fine. Point is Anderson is rated mid 20s. If thats how Norf rate him thats how Norf rate him.
doesnt make any difference - if this deal is on - then its on.

St Kilda statement on Jake Carlisle
St Kilda Football Club reiterates Jake Carlisle’s statement that he is determined to play for the Saints from 2016 and beyond.
Carlisle confirmed his view to the club directly today from overseas.
St Kilda COO Ameet Bains said the Saints would continue to speak with Essendon about a deal that would bring Carlisle to St Kilda.
“The club will continue to work with Jake’s management and the Essendon Football Club to secure an appropriate trade that will give effect to Jake’s wishes,” Bains said.
Carlisle’s manager Anthony McConville has also this afternoon reiterated that he would continue to seek a deal that would see his client join the Saints.
“Given Jake’s preference is to play at St Kilda, my focus is to work with the clubs to get him to his intended destination,” McConville said.
“I have full faith and confidence that all parties can work together to achieve a fair outcome for everyone."

You are right on the money there. What reasonable footy administrator would let some mad guy shove over 100 injections of who knows what into the guts of teenagers....Con Gorozidis wrote:I thnk he would go there for slightly less money and guaranteed finals yes. I just dont feel comfortable dealing with the Bombers. They are evil.magnifisaint wrote:do you think he's going to Hawthorn out of love?Con Gorozidis wrote:I have never felt comfortable with Carlisle. The only reason he was interested in us was the money.
People need to understand that Essendon think we are rabble. It is in their dna. No doubt their coaches tell them this eveytime we play them.

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
Re-posting this from the Jake Carlisle thread...
I have been dead against Carlisle right from the start. Nothing against him at all, it's just that we don't need him. What we need is top shelf midfielders and pick 5 will get us one. On the flip side, I would consider trading pick 5 for picks 9 and 13 because then we would be in with a shot of still getting a top shelf midfielder with pick 9 and with pick 13 we would have a great chance of getting Kieran Collins (KPD).
If we achieved the above we would be absolutely laughing all the way to the bank. And I mean that literally because we would not be paying $600,000 per year to Carlisle.

Isn't he the player who was supposedly in strife for 'talking' to his brother about the Bulldogs game plan or some such thing. Isn't that behind the Bullies Tatia (?spelling) going off their list?seano1 wrote:I would go get talia from the dogs hes about the same height and would be cheaper and is straight as .....good family and is still learning the game and as a junior like his bro show no fear when going in to get the pill

Stick to your guns Saints and don't be intimidated.
Pick 5 not up for trade...give Carlisle 50k more.if he walks to the PSD...would love.to see Dodoros face

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
I am not wedded to Carlisle and realistically didn't want to give more than a 2nd rounder and steak knives
If the hawthorn deal is real then good luck to them I would hate for us to outbid them as what is rumoured is already overs
BUT
Hawks and North are very quiet. The deal as rumoured I would argue both North and the Hawks get raped. The big big winner is Essendon which just doesn't make sense given the circumstances
Hope this turns out to be crap and blows up in their face...stay strong bains...play the long game.
If it does turn to custard then it's the pad for mine...also and importantly now..we should focus on freeman and get it done
