The only thing we need to make this site more farcical than what it is, is to bring back Plugger66.

A little piece of advice to Ted and the others involved in the perpetual slanging match. You are all spending way too much time on this site and it is not healthy. Have a break for a week or so, go spend time with your families, volunteer to help the Salvo’s at Christmas, do some good, but for the sake of your own mental health, walk away for a while.

Alternatively, Moderators, shut the site down until the New Year.

Merry Christmas to you all and may we have a Saintsational 2019.

Absolutely. It may be seen by some as very liberal and progressive, but I am actually not against going, wait for it, bareheaded myself. Please don't judge me.......

I think the gang should be called “THE TEDDY BOYS”

It’s a hark back to sayntas era when teddy boy hair cuts and dandie clothes were in fashion.

Also refers to our favorite poster of whom we are all jealous and envious.

I felt in several games last season a lot of our tackles were either pushed aside too easily or lacked intensity.
My expectancy is that we should have some improvement in this area. My uncertainty will be will we improve on our ability to stay on our feet? We certainly seem to fall to ground too easily in contests especially tackling contests. This means you are out of the contest immediately afterwards and leave your teammates to do the hard work to get the ball back. I hate to say this but Hawthorn are pretty good at staying on their feet and this enables them to close down the space to the ball carrier more easily.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

I caught up with a mate yesterday who knows Billy through Billy’s ties in the racing industry.

He believes Billy’s role at Saints will be very limited in a hands on capacity but will be more mentoring, one on one with players and over the phone more that at the club.

He says Bill’s focus is is breading stables, transport and other GC based business ventures.

Personally I have no idea, but this guy definitely knows Billy and has done for many years.

Billy's focus is to be a baker? Can't see him kneading the dough.

Seriously, apart from a bit of tackling knowhow, his main asset to the club would be in the mentoring line, in particular the younger players. So I would think your mate would be close to the mark.

And yes I think it was made known from day one that is role was not full time and it was to be more focused on leadership aspects.

Tackling coaching is just a bonus. A very nice bonus mind you!

Having someone of his status who is a known hard worker and is focused on success cannot but have a positive impact on our playing group.
