The rule is about assisting tradition. No problems with the rule. The rookie avenue seems a bit silly, free elevation with last draft pick the next year? Do we want the dogs having some more free hits? Seems like everyone who has played 100 games for the Bulldogs has had elite kids.CQ SAINT wrote:As I said. The rule is supposed to protect tradition. This kind of crud just makes a mockery of the whole notion. He made a choice, it should be honoured. If not then dont give him the choice. Put it this way. If I chose St.Kilda cause my dad played there and someone made a bid for me the Saints couldn't match I go rookie instead.

Good luck to the Bulldogs and Geelong. Apparently all the grog our players were drinking at the social club in the 70-90's must have affected their sperm.Rosco wrote:The rule is about assisting tradition. No problems with the rule. Seriously though. I would be seriously perplexed if we dont get him. He is not an Ablett but he is ours. It should be his right. I havent got a good argument really. I have to admit this is all emotion. But I still wont change my mind and I would go rookie. With Freemans hammies its a fair chance.

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Good on him, hopefully gives him a bit more confidence to attack year 1. Cheers for this info.

Re: Bailey Rice?
I don't see how Carlton can get Rice unless they are prepared to use pick 19 - which seems unlikely.
After that they would have to use 59 + 60 which only gets them 304 points which means we can outbid them with our pick 45 (347 points).
What would make things really interesting is if another club calls his name from 30-35. If that happens he doesn't end up with us OR the Blues.

Re: Bailey Rice?
Blues have nominated him, as have we, and he's indicated a preference for us. We get first right of refusal.Bunk_Moreland wrote:Only if we drop out or don't match.Mr Magic wrote:How do they nominate him now, before the draft?satchmo wrote:Blues have nominated Rice.
If at draft time they bid pick 19 for him they will most likely get him. Anyone else bids after that we are in box seat.
Re: Bailey Rice?
If he's worth pick 14 and we bid it for him, and they don't match with 19, kiss him goodbye in 1 year anyway.Playon wrote:Maybe we can return the favour and nominate Silvagni, whats he worth?

One of plugger's illegitimate sons (allegedly) played in Dingley's recent premiership team. There's more than one, apparently. Why does the great man have four "legitimate" daughters? Again, nature and the universe conspire against the saints.Rosco wrote:If they renamed it father-illegitimate son we may have been in with a go.

They would definitely get more attention son of plugger etc but since when has illegitimacy been a barrier to playing AFL?White Winmar wrote:One of plugger's illegitimate sons (allegedly) played in Dingley's recent premiership team.
