Didnt we play in 3 GF's in that time as well?

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Well if that is the criteria on anything to do with the Saints then basically everyone who has ever been involved at the club is no good.

Can someone please explain to me the difference of roles between president and ceo?jaxons wrote:In his tenure he was responsible for;
- letting the best coach in the AFL walk.
- replacing him with the worst coach in the AFL
- Goddard leaving which was a domino effect
- Setting up at Seaford which is slowly killing us
- the poorest salary cap position a few years ago
- and about to release a $4m loss for this year
Today is a day of celebration.
The worst CEO we have had since Archie Fraser.
Can we actually get someone good this time?
Go and get the best, Brian Cook, except nothing less.
He nearly went to North last year, must be gettable.
Nettlefold, see ya, wouldn't want to be ya!
I thought the ceo looked after our finances primarily?

Well, we don't have a great history, there has to be a reason, maybe YOUR above opinion has some meritWayne42 wrote:plugger66 wrote:Did we win any of themnoob wrote:Ever since he joined as CEO in 2009 the club started to turn into a rabble with all the off-field antics. Re: Nettlefold Quits
The Pres is the chairman of the board of directors. They are all their in essentially voluntary positions (ie no big fat salary, although recovery of expenses etc), which is why they need usually to be people with either means or profile. Which is also why bagging the Presidents (past and present) is always a vexed line, when they are giving up a massive amount of time off their own bats.Playon wrote:

The CEO is the Club's most senior employee. The CEO is ultimately responsible for all of the club's operations; football dept, financing, sponsorship and fundraising, membership, merchandising, development, HR etc.
The CEO reports to the Board. Some decisions cannot be made by the CEO without obtaining Board approval.
Sacking the coach would be one good example.

- So Roscoe wasn't enticed by the $1M+/p.a., with the 1st (?) take a guess yrs paid up front by Woodside Petroleum?
- It is an opinion based industry, I 'spose
- In the 2 years after '10, what'd he have - 1 low level top 10 B & F rank - yet he demanded to be the club's highest paid player? Spare me. Even at his best, he preferred to wander across h-b and receive.
- As previously advised, not Nettlefold
- Ya reckon GT might have had something to do with the "poorest salary cap position a few years ago"? How many blokes were signed to deals like Hamill, Penny etc during Nettlefold's reign? How's the salary cap position now?
- Don't buy the "loss" narrative without understanding the diff b/w (e.g.) cash and non cash items. I even know accountants who got sucked in by the write downs of Moorrabbin as if they were relevant to cash flows. The other thing to acknowledge is this is not a profit driven organisation - no AFL Club is. AFL Clubs are part NGO and part socialist beneficiaries. If ya reckon they should be treated as profit driven enterprises it would be about a 6 team competition, because the rest would have been declared bankrupt or insolvent at some point in the last 4.5 decades.
So you're celebrating, whoopdee do. What exactly? The departure of a bloke who left managing a multi $M private business to help out his old footy club, and earnt significantly less than he could have done by staying where he was? Or the bloke who negotiated a deal with the AFL that placed us in much the same "growth corridor" club status as GCS and GWS?
- Isn't he the only CEO since Archie Fraser?
- What d'ya reckon Brian Cook might cost? D'ya think there might be some competition?
So ya wouldn't want to be Mick Nettlefold? How are things going just ATM?
By f*** we're a proud bunch of scapegoat seekers.
.everybody still loves lenny....and we always will

Thanks for that it explains a lot. I can see how difficult it would be if they're not all on the same page
