No it's not.
You can just ignore the argy-bargy and post whatever you want to.
I'm confident there will be others who wish to debate your particular pov on the topic. :)

Agree.

And I can understand where the poster is coming from.

Problem is if he has an interest in discussing RL then he's basiclly stuffed because they are the common threads to be hijacked.

I can guarantee you, if the thread has the slightest tinge of RL in it, it will head down this way...

Some recent examples.

Recent Luke Ball threads - turned into how Ross poorly treated Luke
GF Loss - turned into how poorly Ross coaches on game day
Ross Lyon one on one - Ross has poor views on player appprenticeship

It happens all the time, it's the just the same content with a makeover.

As far as the OP goes, I would love to discuss it further.

I think it's a positive thing that players are given time in the system. I think the management of Geary and McEvoy last year was a good example, they played a good chunk of games, without pushing their bodies to hard.

This is going to be crucial for St.Kilda succes - post Riewoldt. We want that flag next year and Ross has said it "unfinished business" so the youguns will probably have to wait. Having said that who ever puts their hand up - last year it was Zac.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

It's about balance, and I think you will see a similar trend this year. I expect to see players like Steven play about the same amount of games this year, perhaps earlier in the season.

what it would be like to have the time to spend on here that these dudes do....

talk about circle work...

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Whilst some of us feel the need to enter into the arguments, there are others who just ignore them and keep posting in threads that interest them.
It's a forum, do whatever you feel comfortable with.

i'm into that action

plenty of us love to read thoughts and opinions .... just go where 'you' wanna

some of the arguements/discussions are blessed with 'on topic' conversation interspersed at odd moments ... i personally love 'those bits '

Thanks guys. :)

Being new to the forum, I'm still getting used to how it all works etc. I was finding that particular side of things very frustrating. From now on, I'll just ignore it and keep posting my thoughts on the topic and see what happens. I guess I thought it would be rude to post sensible discussion in the middle of someone's arguement....

On the topic of Ross Lyon...I'm a Ross fan from way back. I'm glad to see that he is finally getting the respect he deserves. I am confident he will be our next premiership coach.
I really enjoyed the interview...which I believe was only part 1 and look forward to part 2. I agree with Ross' comments in the article where he was asked where he felt he has improved...

People can judge that and I’ll let the results do the talking. Three years into the job I’ve grown in some aspects, there’s no doubt about that. I feel media interaction, working with the broadcasters and handling the pressure (are areas where I have improved). The players and myself are really united and we all believe in the game plan and our structures and our plan. It has helped us all to grow.

Ross has come across as almost enjoying himself in the media this year. From someone who came across as defensive and a little antagonistic in his first year, this has been a massive improvement. His confidence has grown and the players confidence in him has grown. I agree that they come across as united..with of the obvious exceptions...

That was the easy part.. now you have to defend those views.

Agree that Rossie the Bossie has his shortcomings, but as stated, he has done a great job this year.

Some (one) will argue that he falls short in certain areas, which is correct. However, RL appears to be well aware of where he needs to improve.

Therefore, at the risk of wearing Ross coloured glasses, I'll leave it to him to work on himself... and enjoy the ride.

There's no harm in discussing different views. But thinly veiled criticism as opposed to constructive criticism is really a childish waste of time IMO.

Yep, agree Ross is not perfect. He's not there yet, and still has a lot to work on, and he is the first to admit that. Just wanted to comment on the article in question, and the issue of Ross' opinion of his areas of improvement was of interest to me.

NOt sure if the last part (in bold) was aimed at me, or a critcism of others. I'm still learning the etiquette around here. I certainly didn't intend to use that approach, but if apologies if I caused offence.

Is he perfect, of course not.

However, he takes ownership of his errors, which is half way to rectifying them...

As long as everyone at the Saints, coaches and players alike, continue to grow and better themselves, then they are at least heading in the right direction.
