Two questions/comments

sRr - I understand your gripe that foundation SC members were promised recognition. But as long as you maintain a SC membership you will always be guaranteed a GF ticket.

b4e - I am not sure if you are right about having a choice of ticket category - my understanding was that you just have to take what you are offered. Can someone clarify this ?

I think the heart of the problem is that many people signed up for "FOUNDATION SOCIAL CLUB MEMBERSHIP" which clearly stated that by becoming a Foundation member and continuously maintaining that social club membership, that the Foundation Social Club membership would give you PRIORITY over other social club membership for the AFL Grand Final if we made it.

Has anyone reminded the club of this?

I just want to justify my post further.

Anyway, I have been a St Kilda all my life and growing up in the country I never really got to go to AFL games as it was; maybe one or two games every few years was the most I ever saw. BUt I started supporting the saints in 1995 (was before than, but that was the first year I have taken notice of football) and I watched us go through everything that's happened since and including then, my support never wavering. I was always interested in finding out the footy score if I wasn't at the game, even in 2002 when we got smacked by 122 points (only the second hiding by a hundred since I have been watching the games).

I didn't ever buy a membership evn when I turned 18 and got my own job and everything because I just couldn't afford it. Then in 2005, my Christmas present from my parents was a membership. 2006, not being the most memorable year ever, going to St Kilda games went from being a treat to becoming a formality.

All of a sudden, I expected to go see the saints play every weekend. And every year I have renewed my membership, some years (like last year) later than others but prior to 2006 I had been to just five complete AFL games, as well as the incomplete match where the lights went out in 1996.

Since then, I have now been to 55 matches, virtually every game in Melbourne (only missed one here and there) and almost every final (granted we've only played in four, the only two I missed were due to my missus double booking us after we had planned to go see Collingwood-St Kilda together and the following weekend due to work)

I wasn'ty planning on renewing my membership at all this year, because I felt another 200 dollars spent on something like this would really jeopardise our spending money for the Wedding, Then I realised, it is only 200 bucks, it really won't make that much difference so I just bought it. I would've gone for the payment option of paying it off fortnightly or monthly or whatever it was but it was too late.

Now, I'd heard of the social club before, but never undersdtood what the point of joining was. Not ebing a very social person, getting into an aftergame venue and getting cheap meals there or free drinks or whatever didn't have much appeal to me but then this year I learnt that the Social Club members were given a guaranteed seat at the Grand Final if we made it.

Now at first I thought that was impossible, that there had to be some sort of loophole, that it was simply too good to be true. Alll my life, i wanted so badly to got to a Grand Final, even if it didn't have St Kilda in it. Now all of a sudden came the chance to not only go to a Grand Final, but one with St Kilda in it, if we made it. So I not only spent the $200 or so dollars I couldn't afford, I doubled that and bought a social club membership, knowing full well if we made it, that was another $200 I would be spending to buy the seat that I really couldn't and shouldn't spend.

At the end of the day, that is the reason I signed up. I can see why pople would be annoyed with the system because it obviously doesn't reward foundation members in any other way, and bandwagoners as you call them can just jump on board. But I don't feel I am a bandwagoner. I woujld have been there all along - as soon as I had a taste of going to the footy every week, i have become more addicted thanh ever, even in horrible 2007, I kept thinking "Next week, we'll win, the next week.... the next week...."

So I admit, I'm one of those undeserving pricks who is scamming tickets this year - but at least I have the plums to get on here and admit i don't deserve to be there!
I don't hate you and you're not undeserving, you missed the point!

You signed up as a Social Club Member, you deserve a seat!

You still nominate your preferred choice of seat in the following categories Standard, Prime, Premium according to the price you prefer to pay and the best seat option is applied to that.

The literature the club sent was not as comprehensive as it could/should have been!

You are wrong barks4eva, there is no provision for choosing what seating category you get.

The club info states " There will be no option to choose seats, tickets will be allocated on a best available basis from the highest price seating through to the lowest price."

preferred choice of seat
ie: premium, prime etc

not where the seat is specifically (ie: seat #, row and bay)

thats how i read it

if im standing i thought id be piseed right off, but after the geelong and swannies games i think i was pretty much standing in the lounge yelling at the telly anyway so prob not a bad thing.
anyhoo...we are in if and when we make it
guess that what really counts

When you register your barcodes, you will be given an option to choose between Standard, Prime and Premium!

The information the club provided was NOT comprehensive!

You believe everything you read?

I rang the club to clarify because I felt that there was insufficient information regarding the best seat available option/standing room etc...etc... and YES I was told what I posted here,

so all I am posting is information the club told me, that was not included in the mail out.

After entering your barcode you will be asked to submit a preference of Premium, Prime or Standard,

with no guarantee, that is what you ultimately will receive.

You are still wrong barks4eva.

I don't care what you thought you were told on the telephone, you will get no choice of Grand Final seating. I guarantee it.

p.s. Talk to some Geelong or Hawks people about last year.
