It is Lyon trying to get more from Ball for this Sept.....and in turn to get more from Ball from a team perspective.

Conversely if Ball cannot deliver..then another will be used as an inside mid....but it will not be Eddy.

IMO a lot of what Lyon is currently doing is about Sept.

* Ball's dropping.
* Trying to run Raph into form in the seniors (seems to be working)
* Trying to run Dempster into form in the seniors (seems to havea ways to go yet)
* Perservering with Gwilt as a HF to give him experience. (Has been ok-ish...with Dempster also being trialled there)
* Playing "finals football" throughout the season so that we are well drilled in September.

look we are 18 zip.. so the coaches must be doing something right...doesn't mean that they are always right though....or that we all have to agree with every decision they make....i'm not into arse licking like some around here........imhfo ball did not deserve to get dropped...he was still averaging around 28 to 30 possessions for a full match....stats that players like eddy, gwilt and geary can only dream about......i think ball has been treated poorly.....and his injury just adds to the misery........i also felt that x was treated poorly early in the season.......he has more ability...and had better form than some getting a game in front of him...

..i have said before that ross has his favorites...as do all coaches.....is that a bad thing..??/.no....unless you are ball or x..

...having said that ross is responsible for giving us the best home and away season in the clubs history.....

Bottom line is Luke Ball was playing at a level that was as good Eddy ,Gwilt,Raph,Mini, Bakes & a few others but because hes Luke Ball & he hasnt played to his potential they have made him a bit of a scape goat & he is only going to get injured or worse so disallusioned with the hand hes been dealt that he just thinks what am i doing getting belted around in the magoos when I could get a gig in any other afl side that would actually appreciate what i do & how I do it.I sure as hell think its a really big mistake I guess we will see how it all pans out but thats mo

Ross lyon could win 100 in a row and it has ZERO to do with Eddy compared to Ball.....FWIW Rob Eddy has not Won a B&F, Been Captain, Been AA or played 100+ games and probably never will........

Admit Ball is not the same player, but, is avg 20ppg.....5 tackles.....5 clearances in 2009......If Eddy was doing that NO ONE ould be complaining....
You think you know a bit about footy and then you start comparing Ball to Eddy. It isnt about that. Obviously Ball is better than Eddy at the moment but Ball isnt going as well as Ball can at the moment because of fitness. He was given a week off footy to train as hard as he could and than a couple of weeks to regain touch so he is back to his best come finals time. Luckily RL is worrying about the finals and not whether we win 19 or 20 in a row. Also thanks for saying I can be annoying because that Stinger cleaner ffs old man deserves to be annoyed with his angry and aggressive posts.

Sandy holds off Bendigo
By Kieran Jones

Sandringham kept their finals hopes alive with a 19 point win over Bendigo at Windy Hill on Sunday.

In a less than convincing victory, the Zebra’s were able to shake off a persistent Bombers outfit who were looking for their first win of the season.

The Zebras led at every change, with the forward combination of Nick Heyne and Nicholas Sautner providing nine goals between them.

The win came at a cost for Sandringham, with St. Kilda listed players Luke Ball and Matt Maguire both sustaining injuries that saw them miss the majority of the second half.

After a tightly contested first quarter, Sautner and Heyne provided a spark in the second term, whilst midfield duo Jarryn Geary and Peter Summers offered plenty of drive through the centre, extending the margin to 25 points at half time.

The Bomber’s intensity and tackling pressure began to wane in the third, as Sandringham extended the margin to 30 points at the final change.

Strong forward presence from Tom Bellchambers and better delivery into the forward line threatened to close the gap, though Heyne snuffed out any chances for a Bombers victory with his fifth goal.

Bendigo would not give up, however, and good run and carry from the likes of Jarrod Atkinson and Paul Scanlon in the last term reduced the margin to a respectable 19 points.

The Zebras, who face Geelong next week, now sit in eighth position on the ladder, ahead of Collingwood on percentage, whilst Bendigo are firmly entrenched at the foot of the table and travel to Coburg on Saturday.

Bendigo Bombers 3.0 4.6 7.7 12.8 (80)
