Can't say I am happy but can't say that I am unhappy

Seems as though the club left no stone unturned with regards to their investigations so therefore I accept their decision to not draft Cousins

Obviously if no club picks him up then we will never know what we might have lost or gained and I think I prefer it that way

Good luck to Cousins in his recovery and its time we turn our attentions to 2009

Go Saints!!!
Post of the night

Thank you :-)
Why?

Cause he sat on the fence with a balanced opinion, with very little emotion?

That aint footy.....strong opinions either way is what I respect.

Spot on HD.

Ridiculous talk over a player we never had, has no STKFC history and is a player the club admin has surely done it's "due diligence" on and has come up with a result.

If something doesn't go their way at work, do these guys just quit?

Soft as butter.

God I hope you are right. I am so FREAKIN' FURIOUS right now, if one of the board members was standing in front of me, I would smack them in the nose. I have been loyal to this club for quite a few years now and have always supported their decisions (if not always agreeing with them), but this one takes the cake! At this point in time, I won't be renewing my membership.

The ONLY excuse I will except from them at this time is that Ben has relapsed. Anything less is UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!

Has the bushfire died down yet?

I wanted Ben at the club, but I acknowledge that the board have far more information at their fingertips that any forum member will have, and they made their judgement based on that info.

In the words of many posters here on a different subject, he's gone, lets move on.

One has to remember that at least fourteen and a half clubs have ruled out recruiting him. Gotta be a reason for that.

It would have been magic to see him in Saints colours ripping the opposition several new ones, but its not to be.

Lets stop slagging each other off about this. The decision is made. The club is bigger than Ben Cousins.

It's our club.

The board represents us.

We want Cousins.

Why haven't our wishes been heeded given that Archie Fraser believes Ben Cousins could be a fit for another AFL club. Do people understand what that statement entails?

Disturbing. Is this our club - or not?

why are you gutted over a 30 yr old who hasn't played for 18 mths and was last on the field with an injury???????

there are equal numbers out there who are comfortable with the Boards decision......

many are saying they will not rejoin- just as many said they wouldn't re join If he did come to the saints.

for goodness sake what message are you giving the rest of our VERY tallented team by believing 1 X 30 yr old would be the devining change

good call St Kilda.

bad luck to those who like to dream....

if you want that... maybe dream that harvey will come back from retirement... maybe that will sell memberships.....

I don't want a dream sold to me, I want a rational decision to be made. The club has dotted their i's and crosses their t's. It was going to be a huge risk on and off the field. We didn't make it.

To decide that cancelling memberships or not buying sponsors products points to a sad viewpoint.

I for one look forward to our first round pick playing, jack steven getting a senior game and kicking his first goal. Bigmac attacking the ball and allen getting some more experience. BJ to first into brownlow reckoning, raph to continue his finals form, xavier to get his spark and body back.....

nah bugger it, let's burn the club down, cut the membership cards up and eat our own.....

I'm more disapointed at the immature responses from some very smart pople on here. Yes be disapointed, hell I would even allow people to pretend they know the future of events. But the response of "I hope he cuts us up" or "I will cancel my membership" is childish!

The club must have a very good reason for not taking him and to be honest I was 50/50 about it until I saw him shave his hair and I just thought that it was a slap in the face to the afl and us.....

Well Everton you have summed up my feelings also.......

Incredibly deflating - after the stab in the heart with the membership bungles, this club is seriously testing my patience.
And why did they wait so long? Why lead us on to drop him at the last minute?

Prick teasers.......

In case you lot hadn't noticed, WE ARE THE CLUB....... not just you...... sorry but you need to give us more........ I'm not losing my rag yet, but I'm sorely peeved.......

There must be a real reason for this decision, don't forget 15 other clubs made the same decision.

Now all those in favour of getting Ben will believe that he could be the difference between us winning a premiership and not. I can assure you one player does not win you a premiership, there are countless examples of clubs pursuing this thought who never won a premiership.

True, at his best our midfield would be much better than it is at present but, if his hamstrings don't hold up, were no better off and out of pocket or worse he has a relapse, than club loses plenty, just look at what happened to West Coast last year.

It will take them years to recover.

If he was 5 years younger, we probably would take the risk.

How do you know what the majority of members think?
Just because the majority of SS members wanted Cousins doesn't mean much.
There is no denying that the club have lost a mjor oppertunity to make money, for example a normal STK vs WCE match would have become a blockbuster but if the Board believe he wasn't up to it we have to trust them on this one, they put in the time, money and effort whereas we have just been speculating.
