Totally agree, 4th rounder for a player that is still raw and was struggling to get a game for the team that finished bottom.

Re: Tristan Xerri
The trend now is list managers really try it on when their player is contracted and wants to leave, even if the player is a "seconds" player.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

They are posturing for a second round pick. We said no. That’s where it is at now.

The perfect scenario for our List management team to show they're not going to be bent over.
A plyer we're interested in but not vital for us to get.

Re: Tristan Xerri
Suspect future 3rd would do it. We can get back into next year's 3rd round a lot easier and less painful than getting back into a 2nd round.
If they want more, leave them with his salary. He can come to us in 2023 if we are still interested.

I hope he is wrong, but would rather the club doesnt pay overs for him. He must be an upgrade on Hunter for the club to chase him, but is he worth a 2nd rounder I doubt it?
Looks like Hunter may get another year - which is scary. We will still need a permanent replacement for Ryder at the end of next year, as I doubt Max Heath will be ready then? Which leaves the club in a bit of a quandry.
Hunter is hanging on by the kin of his teeth. Will get another contract if we can't trade in anyone better.

Maybe future 3rd and the future 4th we got from Adelaide. It would though be nice to go into a trade/draft period with a full hand of picks.

Re: Tristan Xerri
Honestly would now rather pick up Ceglar for peanuts, have Hawthorn take part of his salary and use those 2-3 years to properly develop Heath (and draft another one next year). Would free up Marshall to go forward with King, which is such an attractive proposition and would probably extend his career. Ceglar is now set to go for Geelong for a swap of late picks - a clever deal by them.
Pick 62 or future fourth should be the offer for Xerri. They literally won't play him next year, at which point we can get him for free.
Anyway, I expect we'll end up doing the deal for a future third, because our modus operandi is all about "get the player in the door", even if it means paying over the odds.
I'd also be perfectly happy axing Hunter and finding the next best WAFL/SANFL/VFL ruckman in the 22-24 age bracket. That said, the coaching staff believe that a good pre-season would see Hunter become much more effective. Not sure I share their optimism, but I see the point.

Re: Tristan Xerri
NM"s position hard to reconcile.
Playing hardball even though X is fourth in the ruck pecking order.
On a 1 year deal with the Kangas. The Saints offered him two.
NM wants a future second rounder which is way over.
X will play all of his footy in the VFL in 2022.
No winner but the Saints get to keep all their picks.
Hunter will probably get a reprieve that he does not deserve.Definitely not AFL standard.
Dumb.

Well played Saints. Stuck to their guns and didn’t overpay for anyone!

Re: Tristan Xerri
Sydney gave up 4 draft positions (12 to 16) and a future 3rd rounder for Ladhams & North still wanted a 2nd round pick for Xerri. NM look like the clowns of the AFL, Im glad the Saints stood their ground.
