The Umpires

Post: # 999754Post Toy Saint »

No complaint.

Possibly the best umpired game I can remember.

Do we get these guys next week?

Still unsure if there is a special Milney holding the ball rule? Pies got away with so many incorrect disposals it was an injustice.

Pushing in the back as a player takes a kick is now legal if you are Daisy Thomas

And Kosi has no back when it is the F50 in the first quarter.

But yeah they weren't bad overall.

Don't know what the free kick count was.

We seemed to be struggling to get any frees early. The rub of the green seemed to be going their way and their early goals were all a bit tinny (the first one inside a minute then two from the boundary).
A few people in the pies bay next to us were whinging as we walked out at the end about the Milne mark being in the back, which it probably was, but I'll take it. Kosi was unlucky not to get the mark or free in that last foray forward.

Don't know the totals but they had 3-4 more free kicks than us.

I thought it was done very well.

For mine there were a few missed ,, but i liked the fact they didnt often pay holding the ball ,, made a better contest.

I really hope we get the same umpires next week ,, be a shame to get a new set with a different mind set ,,

What will be next from this club ?

theone thing which got me was Collingwood continually pushed our third man up in the back and never got pinned for it. This must be looked at and highlighted during the week.

Collingwood continually take the ball to ground in the tackle and back the umpire not to pin them. Coll go the better 1 st half we got a couple at the end - Milne hand in the back, O'Brien throw.

They missed a blatant in the back to Milney in the 1st and the 50m penalty that gifted the filth a goal was outrageous, considering a couple of weeks earlier Geelong kicked the ball throught the sticks after a St.Kilda free was paid without incuring any penalty!

My big complaint is why the filth we're not penalised for holding the ball, they should have been pinged at least 6 times.

There will always be dodgy frees and missed ones, but overall that was the best umpiring performance I've seen in a long time. They had no influence on the game and just did their job.

Totally agree, and I would hate to have to read anyone complaining about them, or anything for that matter.

Lets celebrate an amazing effort by our boys.

Go Sainters!!

agree. they are at their best when they pay only the obvious frees and put away the whistle.

The missed Kosi in the back in the first was a very poor decision.

I really thought we got the raw end of the stick in the first half.

yeah milne got a blatant two hands in the back from daisy on the boundary and also (mighta been obrien) he got landed on fair and square in the back.

and kozi got dumped on too

but all in all they did try to let the game go, they coulda been whistle happy and ruined it i spose

there was a few each way that coulda been payed
but thats footy

Yes there is a definite Milney holding the ball rule. They let so many go yesterday that were worse than his. Thank god they didn't pay the hand in the back against Milney at the end.
The dragging the ball in rule hasn't been paid for about 10 weeks.
There were about 20 frees that could have been paid both ways. Rooey could have got a couple in marking contests as could Dawes/Cloke.

Agreed.

Saw on the replay of the after match stuff that the umpires seemed to be helping pull some of the tired players to their feet. Epitomises what the game is all about.
