saints must be favourites for next week...

one day less preparation and you carved out a draw...

both teams have the same recovery time this week...

stands to reason saints are favourites...

(posted on behalf of the countless thousands of non-saints supporters who can't stand the idea of a pies premiership)...

Dunno about favourites, but it's pretty 50/50 after today.

Isn't it amazing that the premiership will be decided next week? After listening to the media "experts" all week, I thought collingwood had already won it the last week.

another mystery...

pies supporters do not understand how much their club is hated...

if you support the pies, it was an accident of nature or nurture, and you are to be despsied and sympathised with...

but to not know ??

that seems unreasonable to me...

GO SAINTS !!

(posted on behalf etc etc)...

I suspect that's about where it will stay. Collingwood also had many chances to provide a healthy lead and they didn't kick well enough. If they are allowed the freedom of the second quarter performance again I suspect they could make us pay more dearly next time around.

Having said the above, I reckon our team has the body to last better than the Pies unless we carry players with injuries.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

A consequence of Collingwood supporters betting money they have already looted on their team.
The odds have nothing to do with who should win they are just a measure of the amount of money being wagered on each team.
The bookies aim to make a profit no matter who wins.

Agree
The odds just reflect that more Collingwood fans are betting.

What I will bet is that more of the so called media experts will tip us next week.

Not that it means much but a few of the so called 'experts' have already changed their tip and are now picking the Saints.

Definitely, so many people thought we were going to get smashed. We're a tough tough team. Very proud of how we kept nipping at their heels and keeping the margin manageable.

I'm feeling pretty confident actually.

On appearance our boys seemed to have shifted into worrying about next week a little quicker.

Especially when you compare the extraordinarily childish rant of Nick Maxwell with the rather composed Brendan Goddard after the match.

Let's go saints!!

No doubt some journos will take this view:

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/h ... 15rpl.html

He refers to Malthouse: "He said his side would respect St Kilda, but added that Dane Swan's 21 possessions rated among his lowest hauls this year and that Swan would ''get rid of it [a below par performance]''. He said, likewise, Pendlebury's five kicks and 14 handballs was low by his own standards and that he would also lift."

It's true we have to keep those guys quiet again but we also had a few blokes capable of lifting.

I'm feeling reasonably confident however I don't sense there'll be a huge shift in the media's predictions.

I thought Maxwell's comment was ok. i liked his 44 warriors thing, that was a sign of respect, and maybe an admission that the pies had been too cocky before the game and at half time probably.

I was surprised that hardly any players - if any - shook hands? I know it was a surreal moment but it would've been good to see. Even Ross and Malthouse should have acknowledged their team's efforts with a handshake. I liked how Roo and Maxwell stood together, that was a moment.

Sometimes AFL needs to take a leaf from other sports with the sportmanshsip - that would alleviate some of the ugly fan stuff that goes on.

So doesnt Malthouse think we can shut down those players again. And what of Rooey, He can play better as well. Swan gets possessions but doesnt do much with them, puts his team mates under a lot of pressure or just kicks to space.

Lack of respect for how well our team all did their jobs.

And we wont be playing a man down for 3 quarters nest week either MM. Watch out for Big Ben in the ruck and resting down Forward when Kosi goes into the Ruck. Major +++ from yesterday. O'Brien and Shaw will be competing in the air with McEvoy and not Milne and co.

I was a bit worried about the reaction in the crowd.
But was suprised there seemed to be know problems.
I saw one man getting arrested outside but I didn't see any fights or carry on. I was quite worried there might have been a bad reaction.

The mentally tough will prevail; not the toughs who are mental.

The draw and the need to play again is just more fodder to shove in that bubble of ours.

Those little Collingwood rockstars haven't had to deal with much adversity this year. They fully expected to be crowd surfing at Filth Park now, not preparing for another brutal exchange.

Carn Saints, re-bottle it and do to the Pies what the Roos did to them in the 77 replay!

I know what you're saying .. and I see your point.

But you can also look at it this way too ..
We were a man short on the bench due to Gardiner's injury - but it meant we played yet another ground level player.
So because we left McEvoy out and then lost Gardiner - it meant there were 2 extra mid sized players/runners on the ground at all times - which may have come in handy and got the balance right ?

Interestingly we still won the hit out count ! .. against Jolly.

It may have been the extra ground level players that may have got the balance right for us ?
So McEvoy coming in may not be assured ?. .. it probably will happen but Geary may be the way to go which would provide yet another ground level player ? ,, seeing we won the hitouts anyway and who knows Jolly may even be suspended ?

That makes sense to me now. I couldn't understand how Collingwood could still be favourites after we fought them to a stanstill yesterday.

I get what your saying but I reckon we were already a runnner down with Gram - clealry not 100% and IMO Geary HAS to come in.

McEvoy has to play you need a ruck.

Kosi/Blake to pinch hit and to be honest if we could leave Kosi fwd more this will help Roo out heaps...
