Premiership Betting
Just curious as to what happens to all the bets that were made for the winner? Were the bets for the premieres or for the winner of the game that was just played?

Depends a bit on the agency. For daily betting, most pay on half the bet. For instance, if you backed the Saints at $3.00 and had $100 at that price, then you will get $50 at $3.00 back ($150) and lose the other $50. A net win of $50.
However, if you backed a team to be premiers, then that bet is still unresolved.

That bet is probably unresolved - but if his bookie is paying 1/2 odds - the $500K bet - stands to win $3mill - 1/2 being $1.5 mill - Sorry - I don't feel sorry for anyone who just made a million dollars.Fraser wrote:feeling for the guy who had half a million on the saints to win! 250 down the drain!

As you could back the draw, most bets would have been losing bets, unless you backed the draw. One guy rang up SEN on the way home saying he'd had $150 at $26 the draw and had also backed Lenny in the norm smith.
I can't believe we are still such long odds. I'll be backing us.

On what planet do you bet?perfectionist wrote:Depends a bit on the agency. For daily betting, most pay on half the bet. For instance, if you backed the Saints at $3.00 and had $100 at that price, then you will get $50 at $3.00 back ($150) and lose the other $50. A net win of $50.

Unless you bet on the Draw, you lose.
I think you will find the guy who had the half mill is still live as his bet would have been to win the flag. If you punt on a winner for the grand final with the draw included then ythe bookie takes the dough except for those who back the draw. If you bet on an exchange like betfair you will get a return as you are betting against other punters.

Yes, that was a premiership bet, not a game bet so he is still aliveSainterman wrote:I think that bet would stand. He bet Saints would win the premiership...can still be done next week, and WILL be!Fraser wrote:feeling for the guy who had half a million on the saints to win! 250 down the drain!

The betting agencies that I use, paid no one unless they bet on the Draw.perfectionist wrote:Earth.rodgerfox wrote:...On what planet do you bet?Wrong. How little you know. All four major online agencies pay out on the draw as I have described, or on a variation. Wake up and smell the roses, son.Unless you bet on the Draw, you lose.
If you bet a team to win - you did your dough. Why? Cause they didn't win!
If you've bet on a team to win the Premsiership, then obviously the bets are still live.
Out of curiosity, which agencies are paying out? I'm amazed that they are.

I'll say!perfectionist wrote:Who were they, Yank and Thank?rodgerfox wrote:...The betting agencies that I use, paid no one unless they bet on the Draw.
Try Sportsbet or Betfair for example. I got a 50% return and we didn't even win! Thank you very much for the ridiculous odds on my Saints.
Well done, that's amazing that they paid out on that.
