Does anybody else have this mindset?

Post: # 996307Post OneEyedSainter77 »

I keep having a war in my brain:

One half says: "This is St Kilda we're talking about - it would be so weird and surreal if we won the premiership" I admit this is only because years of being a St Kilda suporter has taught me to beleieve that.

The other half immediately pipes up: "It's got to happen some time. We have to win our second premiership some time. Why not this week?"

Anyone else having similar thoughts?

EDIT - The bolded part is the real key of my post by the way. I think this is the reason i am so calm.

That and I'm just not letting the result faze me this year.

It's not that I don't have faith. It's more trying to think how surreal it would be. I always take it for granted how difficult it is to win a flag (and even more difficult for us given we've only ever won one) so that's just the way my mindset works.

I suppose I am sort of getting ahead of myself. We have to win the game first.

Can't even imagine it. Keep visualising it and smiling, I am not sure if I'll celebrate or go into a comatose shock.

Geelong fans had similar thoughts in '07. The fact is, years of history may be relevant to the fans but not to the playing group!

I've been following the Saints since before any of the team were born, and before Ross Lyon's playing career began.
For the Saints boys Moorabbin games and all those thrashings are not only in the past: they DON"T EXISTt! They are not real, in the same way WWII, Bradman and the Melbourne '56 Olympics are not real to me.

I'm treating this like a big home and away clash vs Collingwood...at the (unusual) traditional time of Saturday afternoon. Of course we want to win and the players will make that happen!

I'm very similar... it's just hard for my mind to fathom what a premiership would mean & be like to experience.

My ingrained history as a St Kilda supporter keeps coming to the surface & I suppose that is trying to prepare me for the worst. I've been in a strange daze for the past few days after being mega confident early in the week.

I can't remember what I was like at this time last year... I think the pain has erased my memory from the time around the 09 GF.

I've tried to ignore jinxes & superstitions this week... last year I never mentioned what I'd do when we won the flag, it was all IF.

This time my group of Sainters have got our plans in place & expect to go through with them.

I'm rambling now but I just need this game to start!

Im mildly relaxed this year, last year this time my heart was racing and couldnt sleep. I had high drama's thinking we would struggle with the geelong juggernaught. I was wrapped with the effort last year, we had a real dip against an extraordinary side and just missed. we kicked ourselves out of it.
This year we have runs on the board, we've played in the big dance, we've got our mojo at the right time. Last time we played the filth, Flu had just gone through the club plus we were ina high training zone and Roo was a week into a great comeback.
We'll do alright on Saturday, just need to get the first couple, stick tor plan and shut the filth down and the crowd up. Grind them and roll them.
The Filth will be shitting themselves while we go about unfinished business.

Followed Saints since '71
Sir Robert Harvey was my favorite player
Stewie Lowe and Plugger before that.
Loved watching Rooey and Jack Steven
Now looking forward to the future

Some people make things happen, some people watch things happen, but most just say " What the f#&k happened!".

Again we earned the right to be in this game.

Over the last two years we have done everything in our control to make it here.

We deserve to be here.
If we win we will be very worthy of the prize.

The players would deserve it.
The players have earned it.

The supporters are crying for it.

Just one more win. One more win.
