Barassi is publically declaring this year's Collingwood team as the best of all time.

I have a family friend who is a very close friend of Barass and they claim he is hoping the Saints get up. He might be loading pressure back on them or simply referring to the fact that collingwood teams were over achievers in the modern era from a depth perspective and in the early years simply were not really of the same standard of today.
Apart from luck in 1990 the Pies have struggled to be a dominant team, they look like the current list is a good one, but you never know until the silverware comes.

it's not bad is it.....bigcarl wrote:Well, I haven't been around for as long as dear old Barass, but this is the best St Kilda team I've seen ... by a long way.
the guy's lost it....he once stated before a swans/saints game that i in his view i should be pleased to see the swans beat my saints ....that i wouldn't begrudge his swans a win..... as everyone wanted to see them succeed in sin city.....i told him to get real...that i would never wish for my team to lose.......he got a bit miffed....
.everybody still loves lenny....and we always will

i thought that he said
They're the best Collingwood team since the 1920s and 1930s. That might sound a hell of a statement.
"But when you think back, they haven't had many great sides.
"They've won two or three premierships in that long, long period (since), but they were never a great side.
"They are the best side since those days.''

I don't know, I think the 1966 team could have beaten our 2000 team in 2000 despite the fact they would all have been 50+ years old.evertonfc wrote:Our 2000 team was probably better than our 1966 team...because each year, football improves 5-10 per cent.
