Concession card holders?
Can any of you concession card holders tell me whether you have to show your concession card on entry into the MCG?
A mate said in the AFL members of the G a different colour light flashes when a concession is scanned and you are then asked to show ID?

Bring back the Lockett era
Yep, the gate definitely flashed a different message when a concession or junior ticket is swiped. I go each week with my son so have noticed this. He has never been stopped - he's only 8 so pretty obvious he is a junior - but I have no idea if anyone is watching for this.
Haven't seen my Dad get stopped and he's a concession.

We were talking about this pre-game last week.
My 19 year old daughter has been asked twice in the last two seasons.
My mates daughter of about the same age said for her it was annoying as she had been asked more often than not for id.
The G has had the different lights on entry for a while. They introduced it at Etihad this season for the first time.

Your "old sister"? I bet she loves you.#1GILL wrote:They seem to make a call based on what you look like.
I'm still in high school and it would be obvious to the attendant that I am. I've never been asked for ID.
However, my old sister who is a Uni student and about 23 is asked pretty much every time as it's obvious she's not still at high school.
Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell
Haha I just refer to her as that because I have quite a few sisters and she is the oldest.Bernard Shakey wrote:Your "old sister"? I bet she loves you.#1GILL wrote:They seem to make a call based on what you look like.

At the G the turnstile has a LCD screen in front of the attendant that identifies each ticket as it is scanned ie Adult, Conc, child and they will ask for ID if it comes up as Conc or child and you are not possibly 4 - 5 times out of ten. My youngets son who just turned 16 but is big for his age has been asked a few times and also when we have gone in as a family and scanned the wrong ticket been asked. Again wait for the rush if you want to take the risk.

I've been asked for ID a few times at the 'G, usually by old blokes on the gate in the Olympic Stand. I wasn't asked for it on Saturday though. I'm 31 and therefore don't look like a typical concession card holder!
I was asked for it at Etihad in the last game there this year, but that was the first time since the ground opened that I've had that request.

For the 2008 Prelim, I bought tickets from a fellow forum user. 1 Adult (for myself) and 1 Child was thrown into the exchange.
I shouldn't be boasting about it but I ended up giving the Child ticket to my 25 year old brother and he got in without them checking the ticket hahaha...
