Grand Final flights...
Does anyone have any bright ideas about how to snaffle a last minute flight at something less that the $700 plus I'm presently looking at...

I've checked the site I usually use to compare all the airlines fares' (www.iwantthatflight.com.au) and couldn't find any better options for you, even looking at Brisbane departures (if thats a option).
All I can suggest is check out Virgin Blue's site at 12pm for the next three days for their 'Happy Hour' specials which appear from 12 til 1; sometimes there are the odd same week flights on special.
And check back daily, sometimes you'll find airlines reduce there fares last minute (i.e. halve them), just to get bums on seats.

LA to Melbourne
I will be flying in from LA Friday morning...second year in a row. The lovely girlfriend is still a little upset, but I told her if we win I wont have to do it next year as all I want is to see ONE flag!
I got my ticket for just over $900 return from LA direct to Melbourne.
Admittedly, it was through contacts, but still.
Can't wait till Wednesday night when I fly out...feeling very nervous already.
Will be sitting second row from the front in the old Ponsford stand pocket, should be a perfect place to celebrate with the boys after the final siren and the victory lap!
