Lets be honest bout the GF...
of course its possible to win this, BUT...
I cant really see a way we can in all honesty. Collingwood were devastating last night, butt have played that way for three months now. Their exact strengths are our exact weaknesses unfortunately. They have pace to burn, and are high scoring.
When beaten by teams this year (Ess/Carl) that are nowhere near as good as us, it was because they were able to run us off our feet.
Anyway, I have been admonishing myself for not feeling so pumped after getting home from the game. But I just cant see how....

Sure, they were more convincing in their win over Geelong than we perhaps were over Bulldogs. But St Kilda is a very very good side and next Saturday is a clean slate.
If next Saturday we can bring that game style that we played in the third quarter...

I dont get the point of mentioning who we have lost to. We can win for sure. We need to stop the pies playing at their best because their best is better than ours and that is because we are defence first where as they are probably attack first.
We will need to play like we did in the third quarter otherwise the game could be over early. We need to play possession footy and hang onto the ball as long as possible. Slow play is what we need. They will and should be favourites but it is far from impossible. We must stop their best footy.

WE have fired up against the good teams this year...
And the teams we are meant to win easily against we struggle...
So we will fire about against the Pies.
Besides we always win GF's as long as it is an even year which it is

Two points
Re Collingwood.
Yes they looked awesome in that first quarter.
BUT
Don't forget they kicked two goals from terrible kicks
- Warney offbreak goal
- another total miskick from Brown flukishly went to Didak who goaled
They also got a soft free.
So the 7 goals was inflated.
Also Geelong has No Plan B
(probably because they have been so good they haven't needed one)
But if we had faced that onslaught we would have gone into shut-down mode and bottled them up.
Result - something like a 3 goals to 1 scoreline at 1/4 time instead of 7-1.
Re - Us
If we play like we did in that 3rd quarter we will beat anyone.
So we have the gameplan to shut Collingwood down when they are hot.
And the ability to counterpunch like we did in the 3rd.
Trust in Ross.
Trust in our guys.

A third of the Pies players are "AFL babies" - ie. they have played less than 50 games.
Like rabbits in the spotlight, they won't know what's hit them with the pressure of Grand Final Day.
It's another ball game.
We have a club full of finals experience, including one of the hardest GF's ever played (last year!).
Experience makes a HUGE difference.
We should be confident in our boys and our coach to deliver our second flag next week, not that it will be easy.........

Agree with this. You've got to be in it to win it and we are there.plugger66 wrote:I dont get the point of mentioning who we have lost to. We can win for sure. Sure they will go in favourites. And rightly so. But if we can stick with them and play like we did today after half time (and also early in the Geelong game). If we can get our game going we are certainly a chance.
We did beat them earlier in the year. ANything is possible on the big day.
The key to our game is our defence and that will hopefully keep us in the game and give us a chance. We have to believe we can win it. We can beat anyone on our day...hopefully next Saturday is one of those days.

I've registered for a grand final ticket but having read this I don't really want it. Now I've just got to cancel my flight and set my alarm for 9:30 next Saturday morning and I'll be spared all the pain.iwantmeseats wrote:of course its possible to win this, BUT...
