''I still get really excited, and I've got the '66 thing up on the wall in a frame … You look at it and think: one day, we want to achieve that.''- Arryn Siposs
A great man, a humble man and a man of the people in the St Kilda Football Club. From the top bloke to the doormen, Jack was as chatty, warm and friendly to everyone. And always had a huge smile on his face.
Never had the fortune of meeting him but all tales were of him being an exquisitely-mannered gentleman who supported this club as if every day was his last.
Please, Saints, win it for us, yourselves, and the Barker family.
What an emotional week - seeing Jim Stynes then hearing Shane Crawford speak after his epic effort and now hearing of Jacks passing.
Puts a lot of things into perspective.
I'm glad I met Trevor as a kid and it sticks in my head and also meeting Jack down at training. Two great men of football and the public.
RIP Jack
My heart goes out to Mrs B and family.
Thanks Jack for all those chats a few seats down from the coaches box at Waverley over a hot coffee...you will be sorely missed.
The man bled red white and black...
If everyone speeds, why haven't you been overtaken?
Prior to this sad news, the 'Dog's may have been a 1% chance of winning tomorrow night. Now they have absulutely no hope. Pity the old fella could hang on for eight more days.
Oh, no this is so terribly sad, feel like we have lost one of the family, the Grandfather of our Club. Condolences to the family. RIP Jack, together with Trevor at last.
When I heard the news this morning, I was totally devestated! Still remember Jack at last years training session prior to the Grand Final. Was hoping to see him there next week as well. So close, just so damn close!!!!
With his boy now. Two people who help make this great club something special.
"He spoke of his stride, his power and his willingness to push himself to exhaustion. All of the things that are on display each weekend in the No 12 jumper" Garry Lyon
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'
