how would anyone of us know whether harvey would be a good assistant coach or not unless we new what was happening at carlton.saint75 wrote:Would not like him as THE coach as I don't think he is ready. As an assistant coach, nobody works harder or can teach a midfield to work harder than our very own Robert Harvey!!!!saintlee wrote:Always nice to have a club legend back in the fold...not sure what he's like as a coach, but I'm sure the boys will be rapt to have him back where he belongs!
Stars are aligning........struggling to keep the lid on here........
just because he is a favourite of all of us and a legend does not mean he would make a good coach.
i am glad he is coming back to us, but it does make it weasier us moving to seaford next year. As long as the football department has interviewed him and think he would be good then its ok

Having done a quick search of the boards...
- The majority of forumites indicated that of the exodus of coaches at Carlton, they wish they'd have kept Harvey
- Several aren't too disappointed saying that they always felt he was going back to us and that he wasn't ever that passionate.
- A few feel that given the midfield talent at their disposal that perhaps Harvey wasn't a particularly effective coach

Agreed. Strong wind though but no excuses. Having said that I dont any of us realised we had lost with the amount of grog we just had at the Macca today.Bernard Shakey wrote:Ormond twos scoreless last quarter very ordinary, just like your post.plugger66 wrote:Perfect timing. Heard the news as I pulled into the driveway. Went running into the house like a madwoman, struggled with my keys all the while yelling out to my husband. He and my daughter thought I must have had an accident or been attacked or something. But I was just excited and eager to be the bearer of good news.
Welcome home Harves! The world is a better place tonight.

awesome news on banger although we have no idea if he can coach or not.saint75 wrote:Now we just need to get Maxy back as a coach and I will be happy.
but who cares. hes banger and he can just stand there and people can glow in his awesomeness.
maxy might hold a grudge and not return until lyon is gone. just a hunch and who could blame him. ill go to my grave knowing maxy was a better footballer tthan some in the 22 at that point in time.
plus hes an eltham boy. so he does have some connections with the pies. give him a few years i reckon.

What a great post SaintDebi! Made me laugh and almost tear up at the same time!SaintDebi wrote:Heard the news as I pulled into the driveway. Welcome home Harves! The world is a better place tonight.
I, for one, was very bitter and heartbroken when he went to Carlton, and to see him in their rooms in 'that' polo made me almost physically ill every time.
To hear the wonderful news tonight instantly erased all of that, as our Hero is back!
...and yes, the world really is a better place tonight

Ah, the old McKinnon Hotel. Takes me back to Thursday nights after training back in the late 60s and early 70s. Some things never change.plugger66 wrote:Agreed. Strong wind though but no excuses. I watched some of the last quarter from Beach Road and it wasn't too windy. Oh, that's why I stopped riding, there was a bit of a northerly blowing. Love the Brown and Blue colours.
Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell
I knew some one did. It was a 5 goal breeze at least but no excuses unless we call the runner doing the groin an excuse.Bernard Shakey wrote:Ah, the old McKinnon Hotel. If it is just a friggen number, who cares if it's being used or not? Every player has a number, so it doesn't matter.
If it is more than just a 'friggen number' and the 35 should be out on the park each week, then that is only because it is Harvey's number, in which case it would be appropriate if he gave it to the next wearer.
