Your favourite Tony Lockett memories

I could be wrong, but I seem to remember my most favorite moment was when he tried to throw his crutch through Eddies head.
Shame he missed.

There was a game against Hawthorn at the MCG in the late 80s or early 90s when i thought Plugger was at the height of his powers.

He kicked 9.7 in a losing side on Langford (I think) and was simply awesome.

We were strugglers at the time and the Hawks were perennial grand finalists. We would have won, but Dermie kinghit Frawley, who had kept him to just a few touches until three quarter time.

Dermott then kicked a few goals in the last quarter getting Hawthorn home narrowly.

Anyone else remember this game?

I remember it vivadly! I was only 12 years old at the time and I went with my older brother. Actually my brother and I not long ago agreed to disagree on where that game was played, I was convinced it was the MCG and he was convinced it was waverley. Looks like I was right. I remember that thug Dermott Brereton belting Frawley who had stopped him all day and I couldn't beleive that we were actually going to beat the mighty hawks! We definately would have won that game if not for Brereton the dog! Lockett was sensational as always, he will always be the best saints player I have ever seen, even though Rob Harvey is a very, very close second!

Winmar kicked a MONSTER goal that day - it went about 70 metres from the members wing.

Definitely the MCG if it was the one when Brereton kinghit Frawley. He copped fair suspension for it, too, from memory.

I was at that game, it was Ayres, Langford and Mew that were virtually playing on Lockett at the MCG and they still couldn't stop him. I recall going to the Cricketers Arms pub after the match and the saint supporters were treating it like we won the premiership. It was a great day though.

And if Brereton hadn't of decked Spud who knows what would have happenned.

The Coodabeens did a segment on this game where "Massive Merv" phoned in to confess that he was responsible. He had accidentally hit Spud with a stale doughnut he was trying to throw at Dermie.

For me I think it has to be his 12 goal return game against Adelaide in 1991. He had a few opponents and made look Rodney Maynard look like a goose. Watching him at Winmar at Moorabbin day was a pleasure we'll never know the likes of again.

The final later that year v Geelong was another highlight. As was his 13 goal haul against Carlton in 1993.

One of my favorites to. It was the first game my girlfreind ever saw. She had a bun in the oven and had discovered a liking for the amber fluid.
I think he had just come back from injury, and I think the first peaice of play was a perfect pass fron Winmar to Plugger for a goal. I think that was also the first 100 win I saw.

The other one was against the filth, I am not sure of the year but may have been 87 when we won a few towards the end od the year. I remember Daico running at him and bouncing off, we were pissing ourselves at that. In the same game Brian Taylor was put ti fullback on him. Plugger made him look pathetic.

The memory that sums up Plugger for me is...

Can't remember the year. It was at Waverley. Lockett and some swans player chase a ball to the boundary. Lockett jumps over the bloke instead of stepping on him in a rare moment of compassion. Malakellis (I think) runs over to remonstrate with Plugger thing he's kicked the swans player.

Lockett swings him around like Sheedy's jacket at Subiaco.

1080 degrees. And into the fence.

The crowd was up.

And then slumped back down as we realised we wouldn't be seeing Tone for a few weeks.

game in sydney...where plugger nearly killed caven then tried to decapitate that white haired prick who is always getting his ugly head on the tellie......we came from 47 points down in the last quarter to win.....i even hugged molly .......
