Thought the same.
All we hear is whinge guts and his friggin free kick.
I noted that Lyon used the words "this is a disservice to how good we were" frig oath Ross......next time lets leave these pr!cks no room for doubt.
Be it Swans/Dogs/Pies/Cats - lets get a nice sunny day and smash the suitcase out of any of them.

On the Couch was pretty much all about how badly Geelong played...
Good I say.
Discredit at your peril...

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

I was glad to hear Dwayne Russell and Rohan Smith's reactions to "that free kick" on The Winners, on Foxtel last night, though. They practically laughed at the fact it was even an issue and Russell said that "about 99% of those he's spoken to, since the game, thought it was a (correct) free kick" and Smith agreed. It seems the only ones who thought it wasn't are those who support Geelong, those who bet on them to either win the game, or win the flag and a very small minority of others.
They then showed a package of examples of how you're supposed to tackle in that instance, on On the Couch, which highlighted perfectly why Mooney's was a correct free kick. You're supposed to turn them in as tackle like that, not land flush in the middle of their back, like you're riding a boogie board in to shore.
It was a correct free kick, we all know it, we know we won fair and square, after leading for the last 3 and a bit quarters and it's now time to move on and get ready to play be better in our next two games. If we dwell on it it will cost us down the track. If they want to sook about it, that's great, it will only make them weaker.

Was listening to SEN late last night (as I couldn't sleep, still too hyped up) and Darren Parkin and the Bulldogs guy Cameron Luke (I think that is his name??) were chatting to some Geelong supporter. They let him go for a bit and then Cameron jumped in and said to him Geelong only played as well as St Kilda let them in that first half. Sure, Geelong came back in the second, but it was St Kilda who dictated the tempo and the way the game was played in the first half.
Both Parkin and Lake made comments about Bomber being disrespectful to both umpires and St Kilda with his comments in the media over the last 4 days and were surprised as they believe he is not usually like that. They both hammered home to this Geelong supporter that Geelong were not 'down' on performance, they were dominated and outplayed by the Saints.
Since the win, this is pretty much the first time (apart from FC last night) that I have heard us receive ANY credit. In some ways I am not concerned as let Collingwood and Geelong think we are easy beats. However, just a little bit of credit to our fantastic team would be nice. Remember, we have beaten the Cats 3 out of our last 4 encounters. I seriously am hoping for a St Kilda/Geelong Grand Final. WE HAVE UNFINISHED BUSINESS with the Pussys.......

The whole "Geelong were down" reporting is forgeting one simple thing our game plan is built around pressuring the opposition, it goes with out saying that if we play to our best our opponents don't.saint75 wrote:Was listening to SEN late last night (as I couldn't sleep, still too hyped up) and Darren Parkin and the Bulldogs guy Cameron Luke (I think that is his name??) were chatting to some Geelong supporter. This isn't luck, we are 17-2 against this seasons top 6 across the last two seasons, it's amazing how they are "down" so often.
Life is very short and there's no time for fussing and fighting my friends.

I do actually. The AFL is the biggest gig in town during September and I am sick to death of hearing how wonderful both Geelong and Collingwood are. The media has a massive impact unfortunately on what the public perception is and I WANT some credit given to this FANTASTIC GROUP of men that we all love so much who played a brilliant game of football on Friday night. 3/4's of a game of football that even some on here did not think they were capable of. Had it not rained, Geelong would have been smashed out of the park!!!saintspremiers wrote:who gives a shiit what the media think, or how much, or how little credit they give our team.
Just a little warning to those who have underestimated this great team. They will carve you up and spit you out if you are stupid enough to underestimate them!! I am more confident this year than I was last year. Lid is not off, but hell, it is bubbling a hell of a lot underneath it and I don't know how much longer it is going to remain on for......

How amazing is that stat Bozza...it also surprises me that nobody gave us a chance of winning if Lings goal had been a score.bozza1980 wrote: The whole "Geelong were down" reporting is forgeting one simple thing our game plan is built around pressuring the opposition, it goes with out saying that if we play to our best our opponents don't.

Back to the middle with 61 seconds to go, you'd back Lenny to win a crucial clearance wouldn't you?
Against the Dogs in Rd 6, the boys scored 5 goals in just under 5 minutes. They have a never say die approach to these games, and I think the call that Geelong 'would of won' was literally a minute to early.

This has been a pig of a season in regards to press as far as I am concerned.
So much negativity.
After the game on Friday, you could tell straight away that all the press would be how Geelong lost the game or how the free kick should not have been paid etc... Typical bulltish.
Personally I find it frustrating. I always find myself having to defend the club to the typical moron know it all's during the week. This year has sucked the big one in regards to that.
I'll say this much, if we win the flag, after all the crap we have dealt with this year, it would be an almost unspeakable effort.
I know this is sort of off topic, but you really have to hand it to the club...They are absolutely rock solid.

Well I do for one.saintspremiers wrote:who gives a shiit what the media think, or how much, or how little credit they give our team.
Firstly it is nice, particularly when your team is going through a "good" period, to read, hear and watch positive items on the boys.
But perhaps more importantly, good media assists with support, memberships, sponsorships etc. And clubs need to make the most of those opportunities at times when the team is performing well on the big stage.
So while it's easy to say "who cares about the media", it really is an important issue for fans and Club alike.

It's funny, I thought he was going to be doing it yesterday, so I sent my response then, saying it was a correct free kick and that if they're not going to pay that, that they wouldn't have paid one or two to S Johnson earlier in the match (and that Mooney's soccer goal was most likely touched) and it managed to come up on the screen today. He pretty much agreed with what I said.
