Ticket Allocation - GF

Does anyone out there in the Saintsational world have an insight, or an educated guess, as to how the ticket allocation for registered Social Club members might work?
Does the ticketing agency randomly select a registration number, attempt to allocate the number of seats requested as part of that registration, and then attempt to allocate standing room if that number can't be met (assuming standing was selected as an option)?
Do they allocate large bookings first (as would be logical), and then slot the ones and twos in around the banks of 8?
The 8 of us all ended up being allocated standing room last year, and whilst we were incredibly fortunate to have been inside the ground, my mother and uncle (both recognised 50+ year members) aren't in a physical condition to stand all day. We are wondering if breaking up our allocation into 3 separate registrations would increase their chances of sitting down...
Anybody feel like they possess any clarity on how this system works (or doesn't work)?

No idea how it works however I registered 8 last year & we were all seated together in a premium row.

you register and a computer picks the numbers randomly.
if you dont tick standing and thats all thats left you get squat

if you do a group booking of 10 and only 7 seats are left and you havent ticked standing you get squat

large bookings get no pref, why should they?
if that would be the case everyone would form a group lol

i get one ticket therefore probability would say i have more chance of getting a seat compared to a family of 4 or a group of ten

you reg, you get picked out of the hat if you chose accept all tickets when you registered your number and there is no prem left you go to prime if theres ten of you and theres only 4 prime tickets left then you go to standard etc etc

there is no favors for longer members, groups, age, etc
its the luck of the draw and how big a risk you want to take accepting standing room...or not

and at anytime the afl can decide to drop the number of allocated tickets to each team (12500 each) so they can incorporate more corporate packages/seats and thus increasing the standing room numbers for members like us
say out of the 12500, 500 of they were standing...well if they want they can make the standing go to 1000 therefore decrease actual seats avl to members from 12000, to 11500....if they wanted to

Short answer is yes, you improve your chances of getting seats by registering smaller groups.

It was stated at the AGM I believe that process was completely random and that due to this some of the Board had standing room assigned IIRC.....

id dare say it would fill rows from left to right/right to left etc in each relevant area (prem, prime, standard etc)
i ended up on the end of a row (single seat)

so say a single person gets picked out near the end round 10000th, there might be singles dotted about the place in premium and prime still... and still may get a decent seat.

its all luck of the draw, and could easily end up in the top deck, or standing

Our group broke up into a few smaller groups to ensure we got seats (my wife was 5 months pregnant at the time) last year.

Not sure if we'll go for any ticket or just seats again. With only 2 of us we might have a crack at getting a premium seat again.

Is that based on a guess, or actual knowledge?

It would seem to not be in accordance with the information issued by the club. Not saying it is not so though as implementation does not always match what is stated.


Though if you put in 3x2 compared to 1x6 you would be mote likely that at least one booking gets seats.

well if a group of ten is pulled out nearly last and a single is pullled out nearly last and they both accept ANY ticket yet there is only four prem left its obvious that being a single is better and you would have more chance?

then again it comes down to how many choose standing as an option and how many dont and how many actually register for their ticket and if the afl decide to make more standing room and less seats for members because they can be pricks and just do it if they want to make more money

so it seems to be better being a single, but is it really???

It is totally random.

I registered for just 2 and got standing room, while others I know registered in groups of 3, 4 and 5 and got seats.

Let's just get there first before we worry about it.

And like Matrix said, be thankful that we are there. I will sit on the bloody roof if it means I see us win the thing

given the club has capped the number eligible at the number of TICKETS available then fair chance all those eligible will get in

I registered on my own and got a ripping seat between the 50 m line and the wing under cover, but I'm sure I put down best available, which means you would take standing. Better standing in the G than at the local pub. Actually stood at the 2004 G.F. with a Lions mate, and quite enjoyed the experience. It took me back to the 60s and 70s G.F.s when the old man always got standing room.

1. how many GF tickets the StKFC are allocated ?
2. how many SC members we have ?
3. how many tickets are seated (premium/prime/standard) ?
4. how many tickets are allocated as standing room ?

2)St Kilda have tied their tickets to social club membership- and allot more to September saints - to cover theose who choose not to, cannot or any other reason do not take up their allocation- St Kilda's social club membership s 11,500

In terms of september saints, does anyone know what the chances are of getting a ticket? I understand its all random allocation, but based on last year, would it be 50/50 chance?

The two key factors are
1) the uptake rate.
Last year it was 93% of SC members requested tickets.
This is an all time high since the AFL/Ticketek introduced this ticketing system. The prev highest by any club was 85%.
2) The proportion of our allocation of 11,500 tickets that are seats.
The AFL won't commit to a figure. Last year they increased the proportion of standing tickets.

Hence because of the combined impact of both these factors there wasn't enough seats to go around last year.

What will happen this year?
The SC is still capped at 11,500 so everyone is guaranteed a "ticket".
Suspect the take-up figure will be lower this year - given the trauma of last year a few may be tempted to watch from the comfort of their homes.
But against that I wouldn't put the greedy greasy pigs at the AFL to further reduce the proportion of seats in our 11,500 allocation - as particularly if Collingwood is playing they can flog each seat off at outrageous prices in "corporate packages".

So we won't know exactly how many seats we are getting till GF week.

I am very pleased to be going through this again this year but have an additional problem this year in regards to the mobility impaired tickets.

Basically 3 out of our 7 will require this - 1 in a wheelchair and 2 would need level one seats due to medical problems. Last year we were allocated standing room (1 did not need wheelchair then) and this will not be acceptable this year. 2 will need an able adult to assist them , the other should be OK.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Ideally the 7 would all like to be seated in a similar area on level 1 and I will call them on Thursday to discuss the options but I would like to hear from anyone that used the mobility option and roughly where the seats were last year.

The AFL set aside a certain number of seats for disabled people which also means that a carer goes in with them.
Last year I got standing room and there was an empty disabled spot in front of us.

Ring the club and see how you go about applying for one.

I think the figure last year was about 15% of total allocation was standing room.
IIRC most of the additional tickets provided to us by the AFL were 'standing room', something the Club was unaware of until quite late in the process.

I think the standing room issue occured in 2008 also, friend was hawks member and had same issue, all his family only got standing room tickets. I had standing room last year and it was fantastic, just get in early get ur spot and relax..
