[quote="Enrico_Misso"]If you bothered to actually read the threads before launching in to ridiculous inane comments, the point is we don't have anyone who appeals for frees that aren't there like "Duckhead" Selwood and "Chequebook" Ablett.

You don't see Lenny screaming at the umpire for imaginary frees.
He doesn't even appeal when he gets his head almost taken off![/quote

Yes and your point is? My point is we won one of our b est wins ever and I see nothing wrong with players appealling for frees. To me that is not cheating. If it is to you good on you. I am happy to be good winner rather than a poor winner. Let Geelong people be sore losers.

According to the AFL what players like Selwood and Stevie J do every game is very much cheating...surely you remember their claim to be targeting staging? What happened to that?

I guess there's no chance of players doing a version of Gilly's Walk and owning up to the fact they didn't kick a goal (i.e. Hawkins and whoever claimed the one Zac pushed through), so I suppose we'll have to remain exposed to monumental incompetence instead. I wonder if any goal umpires place bets for Geelong this game.

GAblett's just a spoiled brat, not a cheat.

I actually was convinced that was pushed through by Zac but when I watched it again last night Zac didnt hit it hard enough for it to go that quickly through thee goals so it probably was the right decision. Pretty sure the goal umpire backed Geelong though but he must have forgot to see who the field umpire backed. It makes sense i you know it. One of best wins ever and we still whinge.

Contentious, but you're right...the field umpire who clearly in no position to judge, was quite happy to override the goaly (very quickly too), who was much closer.

When the AFL decided to target staging (for which no action seems to have been taken), why haven't they targeted players like SJ and Selwood who do it on a weekly basis?

And some folks are whinging about the whinging. How ridiculous is that. If you aren't interested in some of these parts of the game, then don't bother posting on the thread.

Now, to the point of it. I fully agree that the Geelong players are stagers. There was one classic moment in the ?2nd Q I think when the ball went up into the centre circle, Ablett was running towards it with Gwilty behind him and took a massive swan dive. The ump did what sometimes the soccer refs do and waved played on! He clearly saw the cheating. Only wish that someone would make an example and actually give a free kick.

Staging, and going down softly like a ton of bricks on minimal contact in a tough contact sport like footy, IS cheating. Gablett and Selwood were at it all night. Thankfully the umps, largely, did not but it.

Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...

However, we do have Schneider and Milne........

But I agree that the "Selwood limbo dance" (now mastered by Stokes and Stevie J as well) is an emerging blight on the game.

Some of the older or more deranged commentators (or both: yes, I'm talking to you Malcolm Blight) go on and on about "rewarding the player
who puts his head over the ball".

But it's clearly just a heavily-drilled ruse to get a free kick and I reckon the AFL has just about had enough and I'm expecting some sort of rule change/new interpretation.

Re Ablett: I don't mind him screaming for frees. He doesn't play for frees so much: he genuinely tries to take opponents on and cops a lot of illegal stuff designed to stop him.

I don't understand what they are angry about?? Does Bummer Thompson want the rules changed to suit him and his team?? Angry about what?? Sooks!!

When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!
