I was at the game and missed it.
Got home too late to see it on "Match Day".
Has anyone got a youtube link?

It was there, but boy it was tense. Live, I thought the umpire had paid it to Geelong - they got a few cheap frees tonight

there should be an inquiry into the goal umpiring. how anyone could miss zac's fist is beyond me.Sainterman wrote:I am not sure what the controversy is with this one...was clear as day, buried him in the back and it would be paid every time!
rank incompetence that could have cost the better team on the night the match.
Thank you...I had no idea at the gamelurker#134 wrote:http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,865 ... 51,00.html

The red headed prick kicked the ball a second or two after the whistle had blown so Gwilt should have got 50m.
Then telling the umpire he had just cost Geelong the game is verbal abuse and should have been another penalty.
But why did Dawson take the kick ?????????????????

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Lets be totally honest, do you think he would have heard the whistle?Enrico_Misso wrote:The red headed prick kicked the ball a second or two after the whistle had blown so Gwilt should have got 50m.

I hope your ok with a player suggesting a umpire had costed them a game......plugger66 wrote:Lets be totally honest, do you think he would have heard the whistle?Enrico_Misso wrote:The red headed prick kicked the ball a second or two after the whistle had blown so Gwilt should have got 50m.

The irony ofcourse is that it wasn't the umpire but Mooney who had cost them the game. Brought back memories of Milburn cheating by claiming he touched a ball that he missed by 50m, then had the nerve to call the umpire a cheat.
Just saw Thompson's presser, he's kiddng himself. Nothing wrong with being upset but it's clearly a free kick yet he was trying to imply it was incorrect.
But that might explain the constant sooking by his players when they fall over and don't get a free.
Life is very short and there's no time for fussing and fighting my friends.

People only think it's dubious because of the circumstances, the free was clearly there, the face Ling picked it up and kicked the goal make's is more prominent.
What a lot of people forget, and talk back callers especially. Is context is irrelevant, that is a free kick in round 7 when who ever is up by 300 points, it's a free kick in September when the saints are up by 4 points, and it would be a free kick in the grand final with scores tied. The circumstances are irrelevant, a Rule is a Rule regardless of context.

It was definately a free, though at the game I had no idea what had happened, as i was sitting in M10 at the other end of the ground and had given up on my radio at that stage. The Geelong Supporters in the bay next to us went up as one to celebrate, then everyone realised it hadn't been paid, then we started cheering. Quite strange being there. I didn't know till after the game what even happened....lol...
But having watched it, its definately a free . Even Harley on game day agreed it was a free.
I just wish we'd win one of these big games without a lucky or contentious free. Same after last year's prelim. I hate hearing all that rubbish. Having said that, we were unlucky in the GF, so I guess its swings and round abouts. Thought we were going to run away with it in the third, but it comes down to a frantic couple minutes again and a contentious free.
