Not live

which is why I am upset that not only did they adjust the timing of the earlier saints cats match to make it live but they also went live against the gate (not sold out) and might have cost us coin. Now that the AFL gets the gate there is no live game!

Do they think it's going to stop people going to the game?
AFL need to step in here and make them show it live.
its 8.00 which is a 30 minute delay im having family over for tea, Stepdads a geelong fan wont have the pc on all night, i hate how the AFL does this, it makes it so unfair!!!!
It's actually entirely up to Channel 7 (unless there is a genuine specific reason). The AFL don't tell them whether to play it live or not.Ralphy wrote:not even down in gippslandHSVKing wrote:Not even down to the Valley on Prime? Channel 7, you are a fair dinkum joke!

Channel 7 didn't pay $780m to be told how to show the game.
They walk amongst us...
Anyone able to confirm the situation for Canberra viewers?
I've seen three tv guides telling me 3 different things, and then keep hearing rumours that in response to supporter backlash Ch 518 Main Event will be showing it live for Fox subscribers.
The latest i've seen has Better Homes and Gardens at 7.30 followed by some bloody Vicar of Dibley special at 8.30pm withe footy coverage commencing at 9.30pm!!! Surely this is someone's idea of a sick joke. Only... i'm not laughing.

The NRL would kick up a stink if it ran live against their game.

Correct. All Friday games can be shown live under agreement with the AFL. Channel 7 chose to do it for our other Geelong game but not this one. Saturday night is different. Has to be agreed to by the AFL to show live.HSVKing wrote:It's actually entirely up to Channel 7 (unless there is a genuine specific reason). TV guide says 8:30pm on Prime and 8:30pm on Main Event. I know which one I'll be watching.Badlands wrote:Anyone able to confirm the situation for Canberra viewers?

AT the end of the day Channel 7 determines it and the AFL signed their own problem with this by not making it part of the TV rights deal.
BHG's channel 7 loves the ratings and it seesit as a way to make money on a program ( football) that loses them money directly ( except the GF ).
Bring on the next TV rights deal! Only sport int he world in the 21st century of any popularity within a country which is not shown live.

Thanks for the replies everyone - crisis averted - for me anyway. Main Event showing the game live for ACT, NSW, QLD viewers. The online TV guide through Foxtel has already updated to show that the game will be screening with coverage commencing 7.30pm. Amen.

Hey matrix - it's free so long as fox sports is part of your package.
While living in canberra is not so great, in that footy trips to melb are quite expensive for me (only get to 3-5 odd games a year), the upside is that if you're a foxtel subscriber, you get either 7 or all 8 games per week live!
(Only downside is swans games, if they're the scheduled fox game and there's another game on free-to-air at the same time, they override free-to-air coverage with the swans broadcast so we get swans on both channels here!)
Friday night's are screened live through main event, and we also get the non-fox saturday night game screened through main event.
In previous years main event has not screened finals. But looks good for Friday.
