Enjoy it while we can
I hope I'm wrong but this may be our last finals appearance for some time.
Other clubs are improving and our recruiting has been abysmal. This year we have Lovett, J. Smith, Winmar, Pattison & Johnson, none of which are likely to play many if any games. Rookie list is also thin with only Walsh a long shot.
Perhaps its time to look at our recruiting staff, considering some of the gems they have turned up recently, Brookes, Sweeney & Fergus Watts are just a few that come to mind. Its difficult with the compromised drafts in the next few years but if they look further afield they may find some players with pace as we dont have a player that could run out of sight on a dark night. Hopefully we can make a go of it this year but a loss to Geelong is likely to throw up Hawthorn which will be tough.

Nice first post.
Actually most of the team is just entering its prime. A loss to Geelong may well end up in a Semi against Fremantle which will be easy.

its funny that....
3 years ago was the end of our window
yet
2004 3rd at end of season prelim exit to port.. shouldve won but momentum stopped when gehrig got 100th
2005 4th end of season prelim exit to sydney.. ran out of legs and uninjured people.
2006 6th by percentage (sydney 4th but 10% higher) went in game with many unfit people exited by melbourne
2007 9th 2 points out of 8th our window officially closed apperently
2008 4th prelim exit vs hawks.... went in the game and just couldnt lift
2009 1st grand final exit to cats in one of the best gfs in recent history
very unlucky
2010 3rd havent hit top gear or revealed cards but have beaten all of top 8 except cartlon. everyone who needs to be fit is fit with a coach who was raised under paul roos our list management will entitle us to be around the mark until we have the guys to go that bit further again
so to say we are going to fall badly down ladder for an extended period at the moment is just stupid(no offence)

I hope you're right. If we win, we won't play another final for two weeks.Bigmal47 wrote:I hope I'm wrong but this may be our last finals appearance for some time.
