The original plan was for the club to be called St KIlda-Moorabbin and after 10 years it was to be called Moorabbin, but the lose of the original name and it's history had upset supporters.riccardo wrote:What question to ask? Here it is -
What in particular upset supporters so much that they stoned Graeme Huggins home (ironically in Moorabbin) upon hearing of the proposed shift of home grounds in 1964 from the Junction Oval to Moorabbin?
The St Kilda cricket club had also threatened legal action.
Don't wait for the light at the end of the tunnel to appear, run down there and light the bloody thing yourself!

Name the stand-in captain who officiated when (arguably) the Saints had one of their worst recent losses.
For bonus points, who was the star player who debuted and who was the star player who suffered a season ending injury during that same game.

Rexy:
R15, 2001 - yes, Riewoldt (a star) on debut. Yes we got flogged by adelaide (97 points). However, Harvey didn't play - was injured a few weeks prior. Not that game.
saint66au: - yes it was blights last game as coach and Cripps came back from injury, but (I don't believe) there was any season-ending injury.
Try again.

Getting close:
Yes it was R4 v catters.
We actually lost by 122 (166 to 44)!!!
Yes the season ending injury was to Kosi.
But no, the stand-in captain was not Spider.
Any thoughts as to the star who debuted?

Yes, well done - Dal was the player on debut.
Imagine being flogged by 122 points on your first game?
But we need the captain.
No it wasn't Andrew Thompson or Aaron Hamill (or Everitt).
Everitt didn't play that game anyway - he was out until R10.

Max?
Yes Max played but... no...he was not captain.
Those that weren't captain:
Max
Spider (didn't play)
Thommo
Hamill
Harvey (was the captain for 2002 but was out injured)
Dal (first game)
Kosi (injured and out for the rest of the season - not captain)
17 others to choose from....

A clue???
There's only 17 to choose from.
Actually, if I answered your question "is he still with the club" that might give the game away.
Here's a website that will give you the players for R4, 2002.
You can cross out Beetham, Begley....
Not many choices when you look at the list....
