Equalling an AFL /VFL record for the Saints

Post: # 974990Post saintbrat »

both radio and Television mentioned that the saints hold the longest winning streak over any team at any point By a team STILL in the competition

that was at 12 wins over the Tigers- Now it's 13

where is that milestone list...

I think you misheard.

Given that we lost 18 in a row to Collingwood starting in 1897.

I think they meant the longest existing streak of any team over any other team in the comp at the present time. No team in the comp at the moment has a streak going over another side longer than ours over the Tigers (if that makes any sense!)

heard it again
on replay at very start of 3rd quarter

best winning streak by the Saints vs any club - equalled- 13 straight

last streak of 13 was vs Fiztroy.

the other stat that they brought up today which someone may be able to clarify

the last time the Saints played the Tigers on a Saturday afternoon was 1977?

and last tigers coach to win against Saints was Danny- Spud.

We played them on a Saturday afternoon at Etihad in Round 16 of 2004, and at the MCG on a Saturday afternoon in Round 16 in 2005, Round 17 of 2006, and Round 22 of 2007!

We won comfortably in the 2004 game, we won more easily (by 69 points) in the 2005 game; Fraser kicked 10 and we won by 103 points in the 2006 match; the next time around he kicked 5 in (what was meant to be) his last game.

Those we were all Richmond home games though - the last St Kilda home game against the Tigers on a Saturday afternoon in Round 14 of 1999, when he (only briefly) arrested a form slump to win by 41 points, with Barry Hall kicking six goals at Waverley.

If correct, the last streak of 13 was Saints v Blues, wasn't it?

I thought you were right, but it turns out it was only 12.

I take back what I said earlier Saintbrat, that is pretty much word for word what Lane says at the start of the first quarter. I don't know what he is talking about.

I could put in in the "Tim Lane has lost the plot" thread but apparently we can't criticise Tim.

I remember at one point in the 90s Essendon had won their last 20 against the saints. I record we then broke but still a club we can't get a streak against
