Stanley in the 22

Post: # 971508Post saintnick12 »

In Stanley

Out Gardiner.

Happy with that. thought it would be Pattison. Looks like Kosi to back up ruck/share the second forward position with Stanley.

Would've preferred Patto.

Happy with that. Releasing Kosi into more ruck time may work well for him hopefully.

Very happy with Stanley in.

We know what we're going to get with Patto. With stanley it seems there are more possibilities.

Very happy.

I see where you're coming from but I feel that for 2010 Patto is a better option. We're three weeks away from a serious finals campaign.

I under stand where ross is coming from with stanley we are a more flexible side with him in as a forward.

He is a better forward and more agile then Patto, and we can really test kosi in the ruck see where he is at there.

With stanley there is still so much more to give, and see what he has got before the finals and really stretch a defence with him and rooy playing together its exciting to watch them both. But i do think patto is a good option as a big MC type player.

Allso i dont like the idear of Blake rucking plus playing in the back half,it disrupts the team plan to much and we know what happens when the backs are moved around to much we lose.

The thing I like most about Stanley is the extra flexibility he brings to the team as a whole. It not just what he does but also what him being in the team allows other players to do.

It gives us more options as far as our structure goes and I think this is a good thing come finals times.

Stanley equals X factor. Both Patto and Stanley showed a little when they played, both showed they can't kick for goal - but there is just something about Rhys that screams screams excitement!

Do you think we should run a book on how many times the commentators mention he won the grand final sprint? My guess will be 5!!

In the ruck and around the ground, Kosi is equal to if not better than Pattison.

Up forward (on current form) Stanley is equal to if not better than Kosi.

Therefore we don't lose anything by playing Stanley ahead of Pattison. However, perhaps more importantly, there's the potential upside that we might play Kosi "into form" by running him around in the ruck.

It's that chance to re-ignite Kosi's season that is the reason behind Stanley playing ahead of Pattison.

Joy shared, Finna my good man!

Extremely happy with this! Seems like the match committee have taken abit of a punt - but a calculated one.

Patto gives a good honest contest - but lets face it hes 4th in line for a ruck spot and not going to win or lose you a game.

Rhys means Kossie can be released into the ruck and play with abit more freedom around the ground - it also furthers Rhys development playing against a solid team in North.

Does this maybe have anything to do with Pattison not playing last week?

Ok, I'm going to ask a possibly dumb question - can Rhys ruck?

I know he's light bodied and all, but he's very athletic. Good jump etc. I don't know that much about him, other than (as it's bloody obvious), he's quick...

Wouldn't think so. Stanley is a better option for this week.

he's played some good football in the ruck for sandringham.

against him, as you point out, is his light frame. he'd run the risk of being monstered by someone like gardiner. but he can run and, yes, he can jump.

I'd expect him to get a bit of time in the ruck, but to play mostly forward.

very happy with that selection.

Go Stanley, make the most of that. Make it impossible to leave you out of the team after this week.
