I worked for forty years in an environment where I had information on just about every person in this country. If I had disclosed anything at all, I would have been instantly dismissed and subject to criminal charges. He is a disgrace.

St Kilda hung Lovett out to try in no uncertain terms. It was plain the players never wanted him and found the reason to get rid of him. They forced the club's hand.

Only two people really know what happened... the girl and Lovett. Neither come out shining in this sorry story.

Lovett's career is now f***ed, and he has yet to be found guilty.

The words "Beyond a reasonable doubt" will be said many times by his defence counsel.

Maybe the players were right to never want him... he did have form, and he is very likely a total f-wit. Add to that the events of xmas eve and you may just decide you'd like him as far away as possible from your group too.

And in the immediate aftermath of the event, maybe the players realised at that moment they were the club?... seems to me they handled it pretty well, and Mini made the right call. There is no way in hell he was ever going to play for us after this event, regardless of who was present and what was said.

The least important aspect of this is the damage to Lovett's career... he was on the last chance highway anyway, but if all goes well for him he is free to play where ever he is welcome.

Not unusual, in fact, probably typical...and the courts would be full of cases like this. Rape accusations always warrant further investigation, unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on what side of the bench you're sitting) further investigation finds something to the tune of 60% are false. Ah, booze and sex, what a great combo...the courts would be empty otherwise!
