yeah, decent win, but let's not underplay how bad port were today. they're a bottom four side and they're playing like it. i'm not sure this game did anything at all to prepare us for real finals-style footy.

Agree with both points. I'd also like to add how good we looked as a te today though. Just so polished and quick but most importantly we didn't play as well as we could have. To win like that while playing in second gear was very impressive. That's a massive statement to make.

Really happy with today's match.

Agreed.

But better to absolutely dominate a side in Port's position, than play a soft, even game against a much inferior side.

Intensity lifted today

Just out of interest, where did we finish after the H&A season in '98?

Must have been a top 4 finish because we got another chance after losing to the Swines in the first week.

We finished 6th. Back then the two lowest ranked losing teams in week one were eliminated. So 5th and 6th usually lost to 3rd and 4th but made it through because 1st and 2nd would knock out 7th and 8th.

Considering that half of football is 90% mental, I think this game did plenty to prepare for finals footy.

Thanks for the heads up, saint3d.

This season is definitely not '98 all over again.

Agree on both counts, can't have hurt our confidence though which is a very good thing.

Exactly 35L - sorry but i am sick of this shite - even when we win by 94 points some posters can't but help come up with excuses

Port were shite because we made them look shite - we knocked them out hung them up and then gutted them without mercy
