Leigh Tudor said in the Victory Room that the instructions from the coaches box for the last 5 minutes were to ice the clock and slow it down as we were home easily and there was some cramping starting to occur. We didn't want to risk any injuries (Gardy was off with hamstring spasms).

Yep, I heard him say that in the Victory room. I was sitting in the social club where quite a lot of people were booing, which suprised me. You would hope a larger percentage of our dedicated members would understand the game plan and reasons for icing the clock better by now.
The people behind me were all whinging and complaining. One lady shouted out...."Disgrace Saints - You have to play for your supporters".....well wasn't all the play prior to that in the 94 points win after a couple of down weeks - wasn't that "doing it for the supporters" - or does it have to be 100pts. Seriously...some people have no idea. It was embarassing to be associated with such ignorance.

The players must have been a bit bemused by the whole thing. Those booing would probably have been among the first to complain if someone did a hammy or something in the last 5 minutes. They were clearly avoiding contested situations, yet if they bombed it forward and someone got hurt in one of those last contests, who would be the first to complain?? When we finally got it forward, Milne missed his one and that last shot (not sure who kicked it) was also a miss...so we could have had it anyway had we kicked more accurately.

On the positive, I took my nearly three year old today. I go every week but have only taken him a few times this year. He had a ball, and at the end of the game we were able to get down onto the rail in the social club area for him to try to get a few hi 5's as the players came off. I had to shield him from the many other kids trying to knock him over, but he waited patiently with his hand through the rail , for them to come off. The first few missed him, but then Dal went out of his way to Hi 5 him, so I thanked him. Theres hands everywhere, but a few others (Fisher, Eddy, Gram, Schneider all went out of their way..to pick out the little kid so he didn't miss out...very much appreciated boys

I was first genuinely surprised and shocked by the booing- we had just played a great game and were 100 odd points up for heaven's sake!
Then I was just totally disgusted. That's not what supporting a team is all about.

Exactly. At least kicking it to the spare man makes those kinds of thing so much more unlikely. We all knew they were doing it under instruction. Yet clearly a large protion of the crowd did not.

I heard the booing but there was nobody in my general vicinity to direct my anger towards.

The question I would like to ask people who boo in this situation is:

"If going all out for the last five minutes reduces their chances of winning next week by one half of one per cent, is it still worth it?"

The trouble is those booing have neither the attention span nor the comprehension skills required to understand the question.

No doubt it is frustrating and I fully support efforts to ridicule people at the ground that engage in this behaviour. But to expect a change in behaviour is simply setting yourself up for disappointment.

All clubs have embarrassing supporters. To be honest I would be happy to have to cope with this type most weeks. It's better than a post mortem on a loss.

Yep. Have to agree. Very disappointing where I was sitting up on Level 3. Some "supporters" clearly have no idea. The rubbish they came out with when we were trying to switch and go around the PA zone was amazing!

And at the end of the game when we slowed it down their comments were just plain stupid - why risk a torn hammie when we're 90+ points up

As they seem to be responding very well to my booing, I shall keep doing so until they win the flag.

As an older fan who was at the '66 GF, I can assure you it's about winning another one. Anyone who want's to boo our team after a performance like todays can piss off in my opinion. We don't need you.

The boys played their guts out today and scored a great win yet they are met with boos by the very people that should be cheering every possession? I honestly would have been angry over that crap if I was a Saints player or coaching staff member.

They won the game, they won it extremely well clocking up our second biggest win of the year.

Today I was disapointed to be a St Kilda supporter, booing our team after putting on a top shelf performance.

I had to laugh when the big cheer went up for a long kick forward, was then marked by a Port player.

I can't figure out how someone can watch their team dismantle an opponent become so violently angry for the sake of increasing the lead by a further 7-8%.

I don't like to get into arguments with other supporters so I tend to yell 'you should have been on your man, Gilbert' when he floats across in front of a leading forward to take a mark.

They may or may not get it but it makes me feel a lot better!

In the same vein after listening to people complain about handballing and kicking it backwards and sideways, when someone kicks long and the opposition takes a mark I yell 'what do you think you're doing kicking it long you idiot!'

fortunately these tools aren't capable of finding Saintsational.

They are obviously very simple people and live very simple lives.

Quite amazing that they are capable of getting themselves to the footy.

I didn't boo but please get a balance in here. I wanted them to get to a hundred points too and if there is such a thing and I believe there was this afternoon, it was an affectionate boo from supporters who had a mighty day out that would have been capped off delightfully by the landmark 100 point win. Take it easy, the ground was pretty much full of Saints fans having a good day watching an old fashioned smashing. We just wanted a 100 point win and the booing was lighthearted. By the way, great day from BJ and the Schneids and Lenny gave us what he always gave us. Everything he had. Bit of the old Roo in there also. Go Saints and boo!

Yes my grandfather used to tell me horror stories of the floggings the Saints would cop from Port Adelaide. Revenge is definitely a factor here.

Funny thing is Port Adelaide's greatest winning margin against St Kilda is 83 points.

Of late I have to be honest, I have limited various forums, do to some of the ridiculous comments that so called supporters have made in relation to the boys.

I think the answer to where were they in the 80's, is that since they are band wagon riders who have jumped on, they have no idea of the passion many of us have for the club win, lose or draw.

I get upset when we lose too. However I can honestly say I have never ever booed the Saints. To think we have morons booing at 90 points up, only backs my theory that god help us as a club if we slip down the ladder.

I honestly think our membership would drop in a heart beat and that makes me mad as hell.

I remember standing at Linton Street with a bucket collecting money to keep the club running. My theory is you support no matter where you are on the ladder, of course I want a GF and I want success, but I am a Saint for LIFE
