Assistant Coaches 2011 & beyond? !!
We will be looking for at least one, and possibly more new assistant coach/s for 2011. Do we look for some experience or do we go for someone just out of the game? A couple of names that I have come up with are;
John Blakey : Appears to be very professional and I think he played with Ross at Fitzroy
Mark Neeld: Knows that he is about to be leapfroged by Buckley
Jason Cripps: Is a saints man and is in the system
Thoughts? Suggestions? !!

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

Your point brain surgeon? Get the best coaches even if they hated our club previouslystinger wrote:plugger66 wrote:Who was on top last year and who were the assists. Hilarious.stinger wrote:plugger66 wrote:Yep lets just get ex sainters back. Makes sense.stinger wrote:banger and maxie.....

you have a point.....but i think maxie is bigger than that and he loves the saints.....would heal a few wounds....stkildathunda wrote:Can anyone seriously see Maxy coming back to the club whilst Ross is still senior coach? The way he was treated in his final year by him I wouldnt blame him if he stayed away for years to come.

Collingwood only have the one line coach who actually played for them. They've got an assortment of other guys around the club, but the main three guys are Buckley, Mark Neeld and Scott Watters. Neeld probably isn't looking to flee for an assistant job.
Whatever direction we go in, I don't think we need somebody to reinvent the defence. As such, it's probably not a great job for the more ambitious coaches - experienced or otherwise. No matter what happens, it's probably still going to be viewed as SOS' defence. As such we probably get a guy who's inexperienced from outside the club who's not resume building, or we promote from within. That's my guess anyway.
Andy Lovell, maybe?

Lovell's off to GC apparently.
Three main names I'd target to succeed SOS. Justin Leppitsch (former Brisbane CHB, assistant coach, currently at Richmond), Sean Wellman (former Essendon backman, currently at Melbourne) and Peter Dean (former Carlton backman, currently at Footscray)
For the midfield, Goodwin should certainly be looked at. Others I like the look of would include Peter German (former North Melbourne midfielder, previously assisted at Hawthorn, West Coast and Fremantle, currently at Williamstown/Footscray), Mark Neeld (former Geelong and Richmond player, currently at Collingwood) and Shane Woewodin (former Melbourne Brownlow medallist, currently at East Fremantle).

what about brett kirk? hes good mates with RL. Would be a great assistant.
Also Simon Goodin would be excellent. And James Mcdonald also.
