[quote]Working closely with St Kilda’s Elite Performance Manager, David Misson, Raph explained the process they have been going through to rebuild his injured hamstring and hopefully strengthen it to prevent further problems.

“I’ve been doing lot of running to get the kilometers back in the legs and rebuild the strength. It has mainly involved a lot of fartlek and distance running to coincide with strength work in the gym.â€

it's been six weeks actually, because the first one was the week off in the split round.

good to hear he's on the way back, though.

With the way Fisher's and Gilbert's "Run and Carry" have been shut down in recent weeks, we could do with Raph back in the team. Last night there was only Jimmy Gwilt.

hmmm..run and carry

Post: # 961670Post elphie »

try GRAM. he is just coming back to fitness and showed great signs last night.
how do the back 6 last night plus cLARKE all fit in?
say, one will be off the bench if lucky and that will be CLARKE at present and at best for him. GWILT has taken his spot for sure and cLARKE has to get up and about quickly after hammy and may run out of time.

ps: all this means GEARY who has played a far bit of the season in the 1's is in trouble. body size and high-level pressure sees him come short every time!

ps2: who will be our lead-up forward? GWILT and even CLARKE have been tried and if we do not go defensive with MCQ &/or DEMPSTER then we may set-up with one of these in SEPT.!

I read that and thought it might have been a typo. WTF is fartlek running?

Basically a more intense form of interval training. Builds super aerobic capacity.

Fartlek running is just a long run which includes short bursts at a higher intensity

Raph said at the HoF he is now 100% but they want to make absolutely sure.

no it's not, it's about winning Premiership's in July like Collingwood.

Just ask the media.

Yes you are right. Surprisingly some in the media think the Pies are chance. You would think they were on top of the ladder or something.

Brisbane next year ?? !!.

Take him into a grand final and you could easily be one player short before half time.
Like his brother he does not have a hamstring left, just a string of scar tissue.
Pity he was never able to string a season together, he may have achieved his potential.
