That was a huge spray!!!!!!!!
Not sure I will ever recover....especially since I posted earlier that I don't really lose sleep about relative stranger's opinions of me, and that if I offend - I don't give a F**** take it or LEAVE it....my opinion is not gospel, never pretended it was....my opinion is just that
BTW - the only thing worse than an egotistcal poster is one who speaks on behalf of the rest of the forum.....infact I have to point out the irony of such comments....the funny thing was, the comments, whilst funny were reputed almost immediately - which makes the post a bit weak...
Lastly - Spray Man....were you the head banded bloke in the forum games....if so.....grain of salt.

My 2 cents, take it or leave it.....
How any poster can denigrate another for expressing an opinion is beyond me.
And it only seems to happen when that opinion is a 'negative' one. And it seems to happen regularly when there is a sniff of a lynch mob. The same, usual suspect cowards grab their pitch forks and go for the jugular.
Shame on you all for personalizing attacks on a poster who is expressing views.
As for the actual OP itself, I personally aren't overly concerned. We looked shiit - and not for the first time this year.
However the reality is, we've shown we are good enough to beat the best. We do have what it takes. That's a fact.
We've beaten Geelong. We've beaten Collingwood. We've beaten the Dogs. We've beaten Freo.
The way I see footy these days, is that it's pretty dull. Once you prove you're capable of winning the flag (which we have), you then just sit back and wait for the finals. We will make the 8 - and should realisitically make the top 4.
So basically what happens between now and then means **ck all.
Last year we lost to Essendon, then Northm then nearly Melbourne in the last month of the season - only to fall painfully short in the GF.
Honestly, the AFL season is dead boring. Getting worried about results in that space between qualifying for the finals, and the actual finals is an exercise in futility.
It just doesn't matter. History proves it doesn't matter.

Again, it does not really offend me when the usual cohort attack....anyone could do that....
The fact that it usually becomes personal amuses me sometimes...I am passionate about footy.....not supporters. I do seem to create plenty of interest, and then the same people who get involved in the hysteria then whinge about it....a bit like Patrick Smith - he does not make people read his articles
Last point....before I close the chapter on this rubbish.....which ever poster, Plugger66, Maverick, SR, or whoever ever it is (not sure) that is obsessed with me being a 'GT lover' seriously, it is tiresome.....
ON THE RECORD - My Opinion (just that)
Ross Lyon is a great AFL coach, perhaps the best I have seen in the AFL for some time....his football strategy is immense...I think he is the man for the JOB for a long time to come...I admire him.
GT was a GOOD club coach, especially at the time he was St.K coach, but the replacement was needed as our list and AFL strategy developed.
other IMO's...that have irritated
Lovett was a Mistake - people were just pissed that I called it before he was drafted....no brainer
Smith - Did not work out, worth the gamble...sad for him.
Cousins was a mistake - should have drafted him...this is proven I believe
Howard was not a good Pick...it angered people because I went early...nothing against the kid, good young man I believe.....but I heard from an opponent of his that he was clueless, but fit
Sweeney....insider knowledge that he was not of the best character, other kids who knew him (aswell as himself) were amazed he got drafted. At the time he did not even have the desire to play at a higher level than he was.
X, Ball and Goose - Woeful decisions....all three, and will ultimately cost the club....in a football and cultural sense and will have effects on further contracts...we lost by losing them and gained absolutely ZERO benefit....not sure what the gain was, therefore what the thinking behind it was
Anger towards losses - Losing is not something I enjoy!
The BIG ONE
I do not 'support' every decision made by our club....I have always been of the view that things need to be challenged, never be happy with mediocrity and hold people to account if they don't measure up. I then have to be able to support my argument and admit defeat if required
The end

Yeah fair enough Marto, nothings changed in regard to all that. But geeez you get excited!
The club has to make decisions, and the info that they have may be far more detailed than the rest of us have access to.
Some will be right, some will be wrong....same for every club.
I think we all hate losing, especially to those [;]

The facts are that anybody is entitled to an opinion and not get slammed for it, but if the OP is a pre-emptive attack you are fair game.
Then to come on here crying about it afterwards like you are the victim really vindicates the spray beekay gave him.
Oh well who cares, apparently some people derive their self esteem and self worth from being superior to others on matters as important as football.
Good on them, hope it makes their lives worthwhile for them

Seriously though, it's not hard to just shrug and say 'hey we're all different, whatever'. I've started doing it every time I feel like biting. Definitely works.

I do enjoy when a blatant 'look at me' troll OP is followed up with an attempt to take the moral high ground and claim victimhood... but to then coyly add (like some burnt out bimbo in a too short mini with her cans hanging out) 'ooh, I do seem to create plenty of interest!!'
For gawd sake, put it away.

Anger towards losses - Losing is not something I enjoy!
Lovett - you turned out to be right - but really, no one could have predicted that he would end up being charged with rape. Claiming vindication for your point of view in that circumstance is pretty gruesome Marto.
Smith - agreed. Low pick, worth the shot. Feel for the kid.
Cousins - the season after we decided not to draft him we won 22 games and lost 3. Had no fewer than FOUR midfielders named AA. Clearly proven that we did not need to take the gamble - and far from proved that his presence in the midfield would not in fact have hindered the progress of the group - and this is from me who at the time felt that we should have taken him. I no longer agree with this.
Howard - like you I was baffled by his drafting.
Sweeney - whilst I bow to your insider knowledge, the boy did have talent - finished top of Scorps goal kicking for at least one year. Perhaps he/we just couldn't quite turn him into a genuine AFL product?
X - shame he did not get a game in the 1s last year before he did his knee. Shame he did the knee. Shame his career has gone down the toilet as he was a gun.
Ball - overrated himself. The gain is in the need to balance a list - he was vastly overpaid for the output he gave. Can't be allowed to happen in a system that means you have to build a list based on a SALARY CAP.
Goose - not needed in our defence. Clearly proven. Better to let him have a crack somewhere else. I'd be happy to see him continue to make a go of his career. We have the best team defence in the league for the 2nd year in a row - without him.
Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...

I don't subscribe to the theory that certain teams had methods to beat the Saints, our two major losses have been really strange almost empty matches, I have wondered if the Saints perhaps have struggled a little at times to motivate themselves for the H&A season?

But when one bags for a comment 'i do seem to create plenty of interest' and makes comment on it.....the irony must be pointed out. Fact is, there are posters who actively and emotively respond, when they clearly do not have to.... if i am all of the things that are dribbled out, then why worry at all???? (aint no B4E, but 6 pages????)
Why
Because the same plebs who churn out critisism of others, can't seem to understand that they are no different....and want to take pot shots because its easy, piss weak.
Joffa - You attack continually about thinking I am ahero and having an ego, yet you are the most patronising poster I read, you belittle and make most arguments personal (not just to me) - so in essence, you are definitley NO different.... so get down off your high horse. If you didn't spend so much time trying to discredit personally, you could cast judgement with some credibility.
SR - I bagged your heroes, get over it....I am sure they will They are big boys, I am sure Ross was more scathing than me....and more relavent. I will do it again to.
And the point of the siblings is funny on a few levels....
I cannot wait for the Hawks to belt us this week and I am going to start Two Rants

I think you will know from my posts in your and other threads over the years that I generally enjoy your posts whether I agree or not with the content. Some I have and some not. Mostly I have.
I don't know who you mean by my hereos?
If you mean other posters you are 100% wrong.
If you mean RL..I also have no real issue with it. .and indeed posted earlier that I had no issue with you posting your criticisms, though yes my first reply was was bit harsh.
I think you, like me, and like most tend to post too passionately when a game is still raw. But that is a sign of someone that gives a damn about their club.
However as I have posted in this thread already if your OP had not started with a dig at other posters (not my heroes by the way..just other posters in general) then IMO this would just have been one of the dozens of threads with a bit of post-loss angst in it. If you have a look there were many and so that part of your OP was not that all or unusual.
No doubt the post-game loss probably raised the heat in a few replies too.
PS I have not labeled you a GT lover...so you can strike me off your list.
Cheers.

I resect alot of what you say marto but to come on here and blast the whole team based on one performance after the last year and half seems a little quick to shoot so to speak. Trust me most saints fans were very disapointed in the game. Some looked for excuses, some for reasons.
But then t actally want the club to fail so you can have a ego win over some people on here is crazy!!!! I hope we belt the hawks, our tackling is back to it's best and we use it as a spring board to win the flag.

Just to remind everyone, including Marto, in 2008, in round 16, we beat the Hawks by 5 goals. Who won the flag that year?
You are right to point out that it was a weak performance last week, but you are wrong to panic. Geelong don't panic when they get beat. The likes of Man Utd in other codes don't.
What in winners is called self-belief in losers is decried as delusional thinking. WHat is for sure is that without it you stand NO CHANCE at all of winning the big one.

I take my opinion from the one and only time I had the misfortune to meet you. I was standing with barks and he said hello to you, I started to speak to you and you just rudely interrupted me and spoke over the top of me.
First impressions are often correct, and beekay hit the nail right on the head when surmising that you speak AT people, and OVER people.
Couldn't care less of your credibility or not BTW, you are a total irrelevance to me, a rude, ill mannered irrelevance, whom I hope never to have personal contact again.
As I say you are an irrelevance, however i will call it as i see it, and from personal experience the opinions of many on here are completely spot on.
Still hoping the team you supposedly support loses on Friday night

Oh no. We are completely f***ed. At the end of this season we should dismantle the club trade all decent players, sack the coach. Appoint Terry Wallace take our first pick 78 and start rebuilding.
There is no point being pretenders. I'm not going to renew my membership or go to games while we keep pretending.
That game against Geelong was a tease as they were pretending not to be pretenders. Likewise the other wins this season. I hope they don't bother showing up to games any more. I can't stand another win where they are pretending to still be in it.
Collingwood have this one in the bag lets get the rest of the AFL clubs to step aside and hand it over now. It will save another $600 worth of hot drinks and cold pies at Etihad.

Shame on you all for personalizing attacks on a poster who is expressing views.
Not everyone is making a 'personal attack', but simply stating their opinion, as the author has done.
If the author deems my post to be a 'spray' or 'personal attack', then they shouldn't be posting on a fan forum. The point is to be able to discuss and debate our team.
