As soon as I saw the following walk out onto the ground

Vozzo

Chamberlain &

McBurney

I just knew the game was lost.

Did an ump go to Presti before the bounce and warn him like a school kid that he'd be watched with Roo? Only saw the replay but Razor told Zac quite blatantly pre-game that he'd be watching him...

Can't blame the umpires for this one maybe, but the gut feeling I have everytime Vozzo is in control of one of our games is he'll give us nothin' whether it's deserved or not and today he lived up to my expectations.

Just looking to have three umpires that you know that for each game will be fair, and consistent in their decision making and general umpiring of the game.

Umpiring was pitiful. No, it didn't cost us the game, but if I feel like bleating about it, I damn well will!

Also, would just like to ammend your quote above - Collingwood are not a better team than us, they were just better on the day. They were playing at 100% capacity (in regards to the team they had on the park). We were playing at 50% capacity at best. We just never moved out of 3rd gear. I would be worried if I thought we played to our best or were outplayed tonight. We weren't. We just had a shocker and were flatter than a pancake! Interesting to see how we go against Hawthorn next week. Hope the boys take their Berrocca before the game.....

Maybe we should be looking for other excuses ans this is coming from someone not at the game. If you lose by 8 goals against an apparently ordinary side there must be other reasons.

Why don't you read the thread before coming in with standard response number 5?

Nobody said it cost us the game, everyone agreed we were rubbish, this is a thread on the umpiring which many people think was terrible. See the examples given above.

Plenty of threads about how bad we were.

The umpires kept paying frees against us yet the same things against the Pies were never paid. The one not paid against Ball was just plain cheating. makes you wonder if umpires are getting people to lay bets for them
Saying that we did not deserve to win with the brand of football we play. When will Ross get it into his HEAD that us kicking backwards when under no pressure, often with 2 opposition players on one of ours is STUPID. Get the ball down quick to our forwards for god's sake, show some faith in them. Also would Pattison, Dawson or the very disappointing Mcqualter get a game with any of the other top 8 sides? We can't afford to keep playing these average footballers, and yes i know we are in the top 4 at the moment but i want a flag this year and if he keeps playing favourites like those 3 we can kiss our chances goodbye.

We lost by 48 points due to our skill, thats all.
+1

we fumbled everything. with or without pressure. i never even noticed the umps. we got pumped fair and square. and we had a stinky night. our good players all sucked. and when ur good players suck. ur average ones suck too.

just like when our good players play awesome - our average ones look good.

saint66au wrote:Hmm..it didnt cost us the game, but two decisions in particular did cost us some momentum in the 3rd quarter.

Luke Ball being run down and not penalised for holding the ball was disgraceful, especially as Lenny had been pinged with virtually no time to dispose of it minutres earlier

..but the one that had been seeing red was sam Fishers mark over Davis. Takes the mark cleanly, Davis rips the ball out of his hands, turns around and kicks a goal. Fifty metres?? No sireeeee

Having said that, we were our own worst enemy without doubt today, not the AFL lol
Nothing disgraceful about it, simply corrupt.
Hope the umpires "friends" made a killing on the margin.

Cheating? Really? Could you be more stupid?

Our game is the most difficult to adjudicate IMO, and umpires will make mistakes, just like players and coaches. Calling them cheats and corrupt without any evidence is an appalling accusation to make, and completely undeserved.

When you are first to the ball you often get the run of the green. Guess who was first to the ball yesterday ...

Please refrain from sensible posting about umpires when we lose. It sits poorly on this forum.

i feel that there were 2 decisions that really changed the game against us and a 3rd that shouldve put us right back in it

the first obvious one was with zac.... gets taken clearly high right infront of ump... holding the ball... collingwood goal

then the one down our end where roo laid a tackle it was clearly thrown out....

thats effectively a 2 goal diff when scores werent that far off that both were clear to the ump and both were ignored...

the 50m at the end of the game 6 min remaining shouldve put us within 24 points with 6 min to go

instead we miss let them run it down with f all pressure and they put it out to 36 game over....

funny though besides the rushed behinds we had one less shot at goal
so for asbad as we played straightened up a little we couldve snatched it

Zac Dawson - push in the back
Zac Dawson - head pulled off
Stephen Milne - HTB without the ball!

Etc, etc, etc.

The umpires were poor...didn't cost us the game, but would have made it a hell of a lot more exciting. Please refrain from generalisations, otherwise Plugger will want to be your best friend offline.

I call 'em as I see 'em sport, and I reckon they missed a few each way, as usually happens. Did we get some dodgy decisions against us? yes we did. Did they? yes again. Did it cost us the game? No way at all.

When I reckon plugger is right I'll agree with him. And I won't be asking for your permission first
