FORMER AFL hardman and Sydney Swans star Tony Lockett has suffered permanent damage to his left arm and is struggling to recover from a serious compound fracture sustained in an endurance motocross race near Alice Springs.
Friends have rallied around the reclusive 44-year-old who is unable to drive or use his arm for all but the simplest of tasks and is requiring constant medical treatment.

Skin grafts are very tricky... I've had two... I had a similar diagnosis about my right arm many years ago, and of course you can still see it, but most of the symptoms are gone. Can't feel the skin so much, and it gets very cold, but that is it.

We owe him nothing. He chose to turn his back on the club (time and time again), should have the financial wherewithal to look after himself thanks to the AFL, so I cannot fathom how anyone could think he "deserves" the support of the club.
Why in God's name should hard working people contribute funds to the club only for them to spend it supporting an over-paid, self-indulgent, selfish, disloyal prick?
I hope he recovers fully and gets movement back into his arm.
But I am with Face. He shouldn't be getting financial support from our memberships. He was well paid and then upped and left. Even the article describes him as a Sydney player. Let them financially support him.

He was a genuine superstar who owned Moorabbin - all the best to him. He has plenty of money, he doesn't need anyone's help.
I want to stand for something. I'm a loyal person and I think at the end of my career it will be great to look back and know that I'm a St Kilda person for life.

I don't dislike Luke Ball. Think he made a very calculated, intelligent decision. It made sense and he couldn't do much more for us. Don't think many would really care. Apart from those who believed he could once kick 80 metres on his left foot and run like the wind. Nothing bad to say about the Saints, respects the players he's played with...

Plugga was a shy kid, that was also a supertstar, but whom did not want and could not really handle all the attention he was getting......
and who yes unfortunately developed intoa bit of a weird guy.
But not everyone can handle beinga superstar.....
Probably did not help that even the coach at some stages was fawning over him...
If he had come thru under Lyon and today's system may well have been a different story.
PS: Was one of the best several players I have seen ever play the game... I saw most of his St Kilda games and regard myself as very fortunate to have done so.

Good luck to the big fella. He brought a lot of joy to this club, especially over the many years we were only just competitive, thanks mainly to him.
Admittedly did seem to have a "bee in his bonnet" with St Kilda after he left, but I still like to remember him as one of the TRUE legends of the game, a title that gets thrown around a bit too much these days from over excited commentators.
