Very dissapointed in Jimmy Gwilt - St Kilda Disgrace
he reduced Goddard's chances of a brownlow.
His ridiculous selfless attack on the ball and dashing run that MAY have contributed to the win, overshadowed Goddards manful workmanlike game.
Have a think about it next time you contribute to the team Gwilt.
HAVE A GODDAM THINK ABOUT IT.
Seriously good game : Grats

He's better with the afro. Makes him play taller.Dan Warna wrote:he reduced Goddard's chances of a brownlow.

do you think his powers reduce when they cut his fro?
when was the last time there was a player with a full on fro playing AFL?
would love to see him run out with a 12 inch all over fro 1970s style
UNLEASH THE INNER FRO!

yes but how will he bounce the ball while carrying it?Milan Faletic wrote:
He could hide the ball in that afro and no one would know.
also might be an advantage if he stands in front of him man, his opponent won't know what the traffic is up in front...

He could also use a bit off "Soul Glow" in the night games. The shine coming off his fro would be blinding.Dan Warna wrote:yes but how will he bounce the ball while carrying it?Milan Faletic wrote:

The umpires would still guess and ping him for holding the ball.Milan Faletic wrote:He could hide the ball in that afro and no one would know.Dan Warna wrote:do you think his powers reduce when they cut his fro?

Needs to go back to the VFL to get some form. He also looks really slow and has not come on at all.
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.

he's been great this season and friday night went to a new level. his disposal by hand and by (either) foot is superb.SainterK wrote:Some do think that he is not in our best 22
he cannot miss a target.
i was a bit of a knocker of him last season as he wasn't kicking many goals as a third forward.
with hindsight this was probably a bit unfair in a forward line that included riewoldt, milne, kosi and schneider as to-go men.
one of gwilt's main briefs might have been simply to draw a player away from riewoldt and i hadn't considered that at the time.
however, i've always liked him as a player and am delighted to see a game like that out of him.
this must leave him in absolutely no doubt that he not only belongs at this level, but can excell.

Jimmy has the ability to pick the ball up at pace off the ground. He has the ball handling skills of someone who played rugby, wonder if his Papuan or Welsh heritage got him playing a bit of rugby early on? Love the way he seems to burst out of defense. He has been the most improved player at the club by heaps.
I thought Geary went well last night as well he didn't get much of the ball but he crashes into packs and makes life hard for the opposition. He has taken over Ball's role at the moment getting in and contesting where ever he is needed.

Where are the afore mentioned posters who doubted Jimmy as a best 22 player as recently as last week?
Nothing wrong with having an opinion, but nice to come back and say "maybe I was wrong" or even "I am still not convinced"
Good game by Jimmy G, good ball users are very important, he is one.

Maybe this year?
The importance of these ball playing defenders cannot be underestimated. Gwilt, Fisher, Gilbert, Clarke.... we have developed a surfeit of them.
It means that the likes of Dal and Goddard do not have to play the "quarterback" role, but instead can play in the midfield where their possessions can more directly set up goal scoring chances. Scary to think how dangerous we will be with this set-up when Roo comes back.

so long as we don't fall into the trap of aiming every attack at him. perhaps he plays deeper so anyone else who thinks they can kick the goal takes the shot.Richter wrote:Scary to think how dangerous we will be with this set-up when Roo comes back.

If a player kicks the ball in his direction and it lodges in the fro, does the ump pay a mark?Dan Warna wrote:yes but how will he bounce the ball while carrying it?Milan Faletic wrote:
