We dropped off a bit in that quarter.
Some of our players who got a lot of it in the first, weren't so effective.
E.g. Gilbert. Sam Fisher also was less of a force in that quarter.
Also, Montagna's quarter reminded me a bit of Harvey late in 97... getting a lot, but almost always in the back line, particularly the back pocket area... rarely in the forward line, and not making much of a dint on the scoreboard.
Hayes was ok, so was Goddard.
They lost Harry Taylor to an ankle injury (maybe for the whole game?) and so that might help us as fatigue becomes an issue.
Not much from Kosi/Rhys/Ben... but it's not a good night for the big men.
Our forwards had it a lot and didn't turn that possession into goals in the fist quarter, but we didn't have it much at all in the forward line in that quarter at all. If I recall, I don't think McQualter touched it.
Geelong are trying to exploit Clint's back kicking skills - Ablett is running off him when we are in possession.
Baker going off was a bad thing... he was doing ok. I suspect he will be fine, and hope he starts the next quarter.
Thinking about it, so far... we are missing Roo, and Gram, and we are still competitive with them. We missed some chances in the first quarter (and again, I think it was the second quarter when Steven and Lenny both kicked points which could have been goals)... and yet we are not 'out of it' by any stretch of the imagination.
Milne hasn't had much of it... if he can turn on the magic for a bit, that could be precisely the spark we need in the forward line.
I've been impressed by Schneider. He has done a lot of good things.
Just need to concentrate on not turning the ball over, giving the forwards more opportunities, trying ot get the midfielders to contribute on the scoreboard, and getting a bit better run out of the backline.

"Don't give up, never give up" - Robert Harvey.
worrying signs when they get on the "fast break" or get quick clearances. i think because we are worried about that we aren't going forward as fast...hence we don't look like scoring most of the time.
also, mcevoy is getting destroyed whenever he is in the ruck. probably needs to lift so that we can get some rest into gardiner.
most of our younger players are giving it a red hot go though. steven and stanley stand out for their effort. i hope im wrong but it looks like we will need a few things to go our way in the second half.
