The run home
Round 13 Geelong at MCG (H)
Round 14 Melbourne at Docklands (H)
Round 15 Brisbane Lions at Gabba (A)
Round 16 Collingwood at MCG (A)
Round 17 Hawthorn at Docklands (H)
Round 18 Essendon at Docklands (A)
Round 19 Port Adelaide at Docklands (H)
Round 20 North Melbourne at Docklands (A)
Round 21 Richmond at Docklands (H)

Would be quite surprised if we lost more than 2 of those.
Top 2 come end of year is looking excellent.

The last 6 weeks is VERY SOFT on paper, 5 games at home, no games against any of the top 6, most likely only one 6 day breakStNoodles wrote:Round 13 Geelong at MCG (H)

5 in a row at Etihad Stadium.
Ouch.
Need an extra physio for those 5 weeks I reckon.
Collingwood-Hawthorn-Essendon is not an easy three weeks ... the Bombers give us trouble, the Hawks will be playing to keep their finals hopes alive and the Pies are never a pushover.
Should be confident of only dropping 2 of those games (at the most), which would put us 17-5 and that's nearly always enough to finish 2nd.

next 4 games are therefore very important. 2-2 as a minimum but if we get a 3-1 split (dee's match at the dome and lions wounded) then top 2 is there to be taken. Get roo in and balance the forward line around him, get some yards into grammy and keep the rest at this level and we will be tough to beat come september

could well lose 5 of the first 6 if we take our finger off the button.
no such thing as a certainty.
and no idea how the crows will be travelling come rnd 22 (or indeed the tigers rnd 21).
we've got a fight to finish top 2 - the pies have a nice run home as well, bulldogs look like hitting form. freo probably continue to fall away.
as long as we hit the finals in top form as opposed to last year, when our best was behind us, then any of the top four places gives us a good shot.

I'll take a home prelim against freo....
Who's your pick to win the game on the far right though??
Depends who Baker runs into - Goddard or a pussycat!

Cats game hopefully a ripper and i will take a win over a loss anytime but a loss gives us the yard stick to compare against for when it counts.
Pies game i think will be full of spite from the skunks, but i am more comfortable with the thought we will win it, hopefully in a canter.
The Hawks i am quietly confident we can beat them with a few goals to spare, but they are not to be under estimated
The Bombers is a danger game, they usually rip us a new one with their pace, shut them down we win it, let them run we are gone.
Although every game is a big one and an off night will kill you, the above 4 are the ones i think are the danger games on our current form.

Like last year, finishing second is a better finals run than finishing first.Quixote wrote:Just did a ladder predictor, here's the result:
Had us losing 3 more games and getting second.
Looks like the Dogs have a decent run home too, even though they dropped out of my Top 4.

Did anyone have the "ladder predictors" up and running at round 8 after the Essendon defeat? While its a bit of fun to speculate/predict how things MAY pan-out, I'm yet to see a Premiership won on predictions or precedents from previous years. The ONLY way to win this years premiership is to take it ONE GAME AT A TIME! the priorities are:
(1) to win enough games to make the final eight
(2) to win enough games to make the top four
(3) to win enough games to make top two
(4) to win enough games to finish first on the ladder
(5) to win enough finals to qualify for the GF
(6) to win enough QUARTERS to get that damn Flag!!!!!
ONE GAME, ONE WIN AT A TIME! SAVOUR EVERY VICTORY!!!!
BOUNCE BACK FROM ANY DEFEAT!

Hawks next three are as tough as teak - desperate Bombers, Cats, Dogs. Drop them and they'll be playing the kids by the time they get to us...Here's hoping.Legendary wrote:5 in a row at Etihad Stadium.

Re: The run home
We can win 16 and still afford to lose 3 more. We are getting stronger by the week...A top 4 birth heading our way.

I'm confident about beating the Demons and also winning Rds 19-22
It's conceivable that we could lose all of the other 5, but the Lions, Collingwood and Hawks are all eminently beatable IMO. I've sort of written off the game against the Bombers: they so often give us enormous trouble.
If we somehow manage to beat Geelong next week without Riewoldt, not only will be on track to make the top 2, but we will jump to premiership favouritism.

I think he just finds the whole prospect of St Kilda and Freo in a Prelim funny.... especially together... It means one of these epic fail clubs is guaranteed a GF spot... Mark my words, if Freo and St Kilda meet in the Prelim, hilarity will ensue.dcstkfc wrote:We are the kind of club that could lose one to Freo I'm afraid to say.bigred wrote:Lol..
