I am a big fan of Kosi, and I am extremely loyal, but I can admit tonight wasn't a good night for him.

I don't think he should be dropped, I think persist with him, he at least has been tackling (4 last week, 3 this week)

I was there early tonight and watched the last time we played the crows, and it was the game he split the webbing on his hand. Would it be fair to say his marking has not been the same since?

He is actually reading the play well and getting into position better the last few weeks, but dropping quite a few marks.

Just a thought, but maybe the glove could make a showing again?

If anyone says I am making excuses I am not, the OP started this thread for discussion and I am just contributing to it.

ruck him, floating forward and use bj at ff.

seriously.. if he plays in the sandy team his not going to change. I watched him tonight instead of leading he runs in circles. his got no confidence to lead and he can barely read the play.

Interesting comment because Roo had to do it himself in the 2009 finals series, his mate Kosi was like a spectator in the finals and Kosi's form hasn't improved since....

Hope someone knows how to get him playing well or at least playing better..

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Ross said shuffling was the cause of our losses, and after a couple wins i really doubt he will go back to it.

Kosi was pathetic tonight.

Didn't split any packs.
Didn't take any marks
Didn't kick any goals
No goal assists.
No second efforts..
Bad body language
No committment
No heart.

He HAS to be dropped.
Spend 3 weeks or however long it takes to get some confidence back.

Tonight he was a total liability.
Gave us nothing.

the cause of at least a couple of our losses was poor forward efficiency.

for example, in the essendon game we went inside 50 about 10 or 11 more times than them, but could not kick a winning score.

kosi's inability to mark and compete at ground level contributed directly to it.

i love the guy, but i think his future is as a ruckman rather than a key forward. i'm not sure how you could draw any other conclusion from his form this year.

the attack looks far more balanced and potent with goddard forward.

No value in dropping him, part of his problem is our inability to kick the ball well to him so the way Sandy butchered the ball today would not help his confidence.

I agree that he needs to be a part of the Gardiner & McEvoy ruck rotations, perhaps at the midway mark of each quarter.

I can't remember a more confidence crippled St Kilda player and that includes a plethora of players through the 80s!

As long as he competes & doesn't get outmarked then he's still a vital part of our forward structure. I do believe that our loyalty and encouragement of Kosi will be rewarded 10 fold later in the year.

Hmmm, not quite right.

Definately wanted him to bang one through from 55m tonight, but he kicked it to a Crows defender minding his own business on the square! Dropping him won't help us, or him IMO, there's not much point.

The way he gets so easily pushed off the ball, I seriously doubt he could even beat any of the VFL full backs. His performance tonight was nothing short of pathetic.
do you watch the vfl...i doubt it

The more I watch Kosi the more I'm convinced that his turning point will be achived following a consultation with OPSM (my guess corrective contact lenses L-4.25 and R-3.75).

Gets to the fall but the hand eye co-ordination is very very suspect.

Kosi is a one trick pony.
He needs to mark and then kick a goal.
If he doesn't win the ball in the air he is useless as he has no second effort or leg speed.
Tonight, and for weeks now, he wasn't marking.

The bloke has lost ALL confidence.

We can either
- keep playing him and effectively be a man short
- tell him to go and stand on the half forward flank boundary line all night and just hope a defender stands with him and that is a neutral situation with them both out of the play
- offer him to Gold Coast and hope they will give us something

OR
- play him at Sandy till he gets his confidence back and can contribute something !!!!!

If I was coach, id probably rest Gardy (whos been fantastic so far this season) and play Kosi 1st ruck. Id tell him basically to run his arse off, from about the 30m mark from goal from end to end all night.

He needs to get his work ethic back up, because when hes constantly moving hes very dangerous. People seem to forget his best work is when he can move and run at or with the ball. He's not a conventional one-out, wrestling full forward.

He needs to work his butt off through the middle of the ground, to remember how to find his space in the forward half.

Gardy could either take his spot in the goalsquare, or we could give him the week off against Richmond, who really dont have a monster tall team...

Just pointing out that the players aren't concerned

The fact that we just won the game by 8 goals and you start a thread bagging out a player is flat out depressing..........

The players can find something positive about Kosi's contributions but you would never dare to go there - again just flat out depressing
That is just a flat out lie. I hardly ever individualise on a player and am hardly ever negative to one player. That doesnt mean i jump over backwards to say how good players are if I dont think they have been...
Yep Plugger66, you were quick to slam RF for finding negatives after a good win - now you're doing exactly the same, yes ?... let's find who else played badly, so we can tip them out as well

Just how long are you going to give him? Astounds me that people are still saying, "he's gunna............" Has been, "gunna do this and gunna do that......." for about 3 years now. Was serviceable and a good foil for Roo last year. 47 goals was very bloody useful. But this year he hasn't fired a shot. Not even a GOP at present. Those saying that he wont be dropped because of structure are probably right though.

Like I said I hardly ever individualise. Sorry I have in this case but I can honestly say I cant think of anyone who is going worse than him. I hope you never had a go at an individual.

Yes I've slammed a player, however after a solid Team-effort 8 goal win - I would never start a thread bagging a player
Most unusual for you.....why not post about all the guys who played well ??

I actually started the thread just before three quarter time because i was really upset the way Kosi was playing. I still am even after a positive win. He isnt going to be dropped in a pink fit and yes should have been more positive.

I thought you were at the ground. I was, and live it looked like he was at least presenting, and making contests - Rutten's a decent FB if he was on him most of the nite
I better watch the replay......

Anyway I reckon there's no way in the world they would tip Kosi out....

OUT: Kosi

IN: Walsh

Walsh can mark, Kosi has lost all eye hand coordination.
Walsh can chase his opponent when his opponent runs off him, Kosi jogs slowly behind until his opponent is 50 metres clear and then Kosi gives up.
Both can miss shots on goal.

Against Richmond we could see what Walsh can do.

It will be a lot different to playing in front of Sandringham.
The ball may be delivered in his vicinity unlike Sandringham who seem to be a bunch of trainee butchers when it comes to kicking and handballing.

left field, but who knows? we'd have to take him off the rookies though wouldn't we?

I was at the game too MCG. Got to say I thought it was just about the worst game I have ever seen Kosi play. His effort in the ?1st quarter when he picked up the ball around 55 out then kicked a behind from just inside 50 was indicative of the lack of confidence. He could easily have run on another 10m but seemed to be worried that he would get run down or not have the skill to handball off to another player.

He is incredibly low on confidence, and like others suggest, I don't think he will be dropped as I can't see that there is any other Tall forward option. But I'm buggered if I know what can be done to help him turn this slump around.

He just doesnt look happy.

I yelled at him tonight and probably had a few supporters look at me with surprise.

So I am sorry for that.

But honestly, he is not playing the football that is expected of him. He is not even close.

He must be dropped.
