His last game his kicking was quite ok. Though last year was not the best.Junior wrote:Must say that I outside of tackling I do not see what Eddy offers to the team.
Is slow and a dodgy kick.
.
He can run all day and has a solid body.
They might figure that Geary had hada run....that Steven may not have done enough and that Armo may be ah mmm "distracted" ....
Heyne had two games, but did not do enough. Looked classy at times though and so hopefully this wil give him an idea of how much he needs to improve and what parts of his game he needs to work on.

How come? What's your line of thinking here P66?plugger66 wrote:Seems like RL thinks its time to rest Heyne. I would imagine he will be the player held out this week whilst the other two emergencies play at Sandy.
It is more likely that for thisweek Eddy will get a bit more of the ball than Heyne as well.

No doubt about his toughness.,, but I would have seen what Heyne can offer in the midfield first before playing Eddy,Quixote wrote:I would have there's not much difference pace wise between the two.
Eddy looked good last game on a terrible night for us. Tough nut - can help Lenny in the middle.
Good change.
You need to multiply Heyne's hff possessions x 2 to compare with his likely midfield possessions where you can get more of the ball.

Heyne got his chance because Lynch has an injured hand.
Unfortunately he was not up to Saints Footy standard.
But then Eddy is lucky he comes in, because there is no one of Saints Footy standard available on the list left to bring into the team.

Well Eddy got about 15 in his one game and Heyne got that many in two.starsign wrote:How come? What's your line of thinking here P66?plugger66 wrote:Seems like RL thinks its time to rest Heyne. I would imagine he will be the player held out this week whilst the other two emergencies play at Sandy.

I was just interested as initially on seeing the replacement thought Heyne might be worth persevering with ahead of Eddy thinking/hoping he may offer a bit more in the long run, and at least give him a couple more to settle in and show it

Heyne played hff (a much more difficult position) and got about 20 plus possessions in 2 - plus provided forward pressure.plugger66 wrote:Well Eddy got about 15 in his one game and Heyne got that many in two.starsign wrote:How come? Let's see where Eddy is played and see how many he gets if it's hff.
Midfield I can get 20 possessions !

Eddy played HFF as well. Dont lets stats get in the way of your story though. Heyne had 15 in 2 games not 20 plus.samoht wrote:Heyne played hff (a much more difficult position) and got about 20 plus possessions in 2 - plus provided forward pressure.plugger66 wrote:Well Eddy got about 15 in his one game and Heyne got that many in two.starsign wrote:How come? Have DAWSON & McQUALTER got photos of LYON ?
Has DAWSON & McQUALTER got photos of LYON in intimate positions with ????????
You have to wonder what DAWSON has to do to get dropped ? Poor all year and last week he gets 1 possession and assisted the opposition scoring 4 goals.
McQualter's forward pressure and goal kicking is also non existent again ordinary all year.
They must have some very damning evidence to keep getting selected?

And don't you get too carried away with statistics , often in the way the game is played today they can be very misleading, and Eddy wasn't stuck out on "the graveyard" for his full time on the field
There's lies, damn lies then there's footy statistics M8!

OK ..I for one am not all that dead against it but was looking to see what others thought the selectors in this instance may have had on their agendakp83 wrote:I don't understand why people don't like this move. Eddy will give us some solid contested work around the ground to help Lenny - we can't expect him to do it all every week. And while it's exciting to see Nick Heyne get the pill, it hasn't happened that much over the last 2 weeks.
and, if as you say, it may include more relief for Lenny then I'm happy with that and one I didn't think of ( and perhaps P66!!!)
Thanks for that kp83!
anyway I hope Eddy goes well, he's a great club/team-man in the mold of Burkey evidently
