I'm a female and 26 now but when I was 17 and considering having sex for the first time I looked up the law to be clear what I was allowed to do.

If I was between 14-16 I could only have sex with someone within a 2 year age bracket to me.

Once 16 I could have sex with someone of any age I liked.

I'm not sure if that is the current law but that is how it was in 2001.

Thanks for that. I PM'ed one of those on this page who I thought would be especially interested in one of the names I read. The other you get a good clue of on page 4 of this thread. Not to say that they're accurate, though.

From what we can gather, there is no illegal action that has taken place. Other than the stress to the two players in question, I can't see anything else coming out of this. The media has run with it, as expected, and I think it should blow over in a couple of weeks.
