We are rooted.
The efforts of Roo papered over a lot of cracks in our structure.
Now he's gone, we have about 6 regulars out of form, and there is no pace in the side.
Forget 2010..... trade Kosi to Gold Coast... rebuild with some quality youngsters.
Hopefully can do patch-up job and take another shot in 2012.
Then the window will slam shut for a decade.
It was good while it lasted.

Australia...... Live it like we stole it....... Because we did.
I would disagree on the window shutting for a decade, most of our players have still got 3 -5 years now, if we can get some of our younger players up then we are still there, we may have to look outside the square for the next few years in the draft to get some pace and quality.
I agree that Roo missing has shown we have papered some cracks but I also think we have players down on confidence and are playing like that at the moment. A good win will bring that back my only concern being is how are we going to manafacture such a win with our current players going like they are.
It is all not doom and gloom but has sure felt like it for the last two weeks.

Surely if we haven't achance to win the flag for 10 years we should also trade Riewoldt.
he wont be part of the next premiership team. Oh we should also trade Gilbo, bj, Dal, Fisher, and gram because they wont be either.

Lance or James??

I'm assuming Hayes will be in a coaching role in 10 years and that is why you havn;t asked him to be traded.joffaboy wrote:Surely if we haven't achance to win the flag for 10 years we should also trade Riewoldt.

If this is an example of how you view life there's very little chance you'll need to change your name by deed poll to HappyOne!GrumpyOne wrote:The efforts of Roo papered over a lot of cracks in our structure.

we are in desperate need of a forward structure and perhaps the cattle who can kick us a winning score for mine!!
.......and the game plan tweeked to go with it
and having said that you would hope the powers that be are working on it as best they can ,,, which maybe arguably better than we can come up with here at present , but it sure makes for good imput!!!
I don't think we need to panic its still a matter of juggling what we have, so we are still in there when the business end comes along and the quicker we can fast track Tommy and Jessie the better!

Johnny Young for coach, Peroni to FB, Byrne to FF, Tiny Tina in the centre. Grumpy can go back to the asylum and write home every day!GrumpyOne wrote:...rebuild with some quality youngsters.
I think we should all take a breath, be fair and reasonable and treat this thread on it's merits.

I've got a great idea!!!!!!! (maybe a BRILLIANT one ) Why don't we Sainters go along to the next home game with the sole intention of GOING TO THE FOOTBALL and SUPPORTING the side!!!!!! and let fate take care of itself!!!!
Lets get back to basics and just BARRACK!!!
Without any conditions or strings attached, just for the LOVE OF THE CLUB
Who's with me?

Well, who is our core:
Roo-27
Lenny-30
Dal Santo-26
Montagna-26
Goddard-25 this week
Gram-26
Jones-26
Fisher-27
Gilbert-23
Milne-30
Blake-29
Kosi-27
Ray-24
Baker-30 this week
Gwilt-23
Schneider-26
Gardiner-30
Lenny is showing no signs of slowing down, you'd hope he'd have 2-3 good years left.
Baker is doing the job, hopefully 1-2 left.
Blake is playing career best footy, 2-3 left.
Milney is about the same as ever, 2-3 left.
Gardiner is getting pretty slow, 0-1 left.
No reason why any others should drop off significantly in the next two years.
Port and Brisbane were both pretty old in the 2004 Grand Final, and fell away the next year. Port's average age was 27yrs 2 days, and Brisbane's an amazing 27yrs 183 days.
Ours yesterday was 25yrs 273 days.
For mine, it is all about how the youngsters develop.
I feel only Geelong and the Dogs' top 10 players compare to ours.
It is Armitage, Steven, McEvoy, Stanley, Walsh and Jesse Smith who will determine whether or not we win a flag in the next two years.

We will still make top 4 this year as will Geelong, Collingwood and Western Bulldogs.
With no interstate team in the top 4, September is the only season I will care about.
