Kosi's confidence

Post: # 921111Post markp »

I love Kosi, and always will him on... but he really looked like he wanted to just run off the ground at times last night and give it away completely.

In the end he was even fisting the ball away when he had the sit....

What do we do?... keep playing him, or give him a spell in the magoos and a chance to rebuild his shattered confidence?

Who replaces him... is Stanley ready?... it would seem not.

But Kosi's confidence is totally shot, and it's one of our biggest problems right now.

He needs to take a couple of big marks early next week and convert, best way to cure lack of confidence.
To help him achieve this, his teammates need to present the ball to him in a way where he can run and jump at it.

Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

He was very close to bringing down a couple of screamers last night, big pack marks, but they just didn't sit.

As much as I don't like to promote GT, he needs to get his hands on it more. Run him in the ruck more often.

Maybe he's like Chris Tarrant. Great footy physique and ability, but not good in front of goal. Put him down back, and it just seems to work. Has anyone seen him play a full game as a KPP in the backs?

Nice one chopps....

Late in the game it was delivered lace out to him in the clear and he fisted it away with both fists like his hands were made of concrete... I think it'll take more then a couple of big marks, and that he is entering psychologically scarred territory... IMO, he needs to get away from the big stage and dominate at a lower level for a couple of weeks.

I agree with this - Kosi is the dictionary definition of a confidence player, he needs to find form and confidence in lower grades. He just cannot work himself into games if he starts badly, drops a few sitters or misses a goal. The bronx cheers late in the game also didn't help. His teammates don't go to him with any confidence and that also has a knock-on effect on him, and the team.

Having said that, I'm not sure we have a clearcut solution to our foward line issues if we were to drop him to the VFL. The coaching staff has their work cut out, that's one thing for sure.

Send him to a decent shrink......but I'm sure the club has gone down that path plenty of times.

Dunno how they can get his head right, but he simply CAN'T be seen dropping his head as he did last night.

He's gotta learn how to grow a poker face, as hard as that may be for him.

Those who know more about this than me...

What about the fact the club had him lose 5 kgs and slim down to be more athletic this year, could that have affected his ability to contest a mark and crash a pack?

No. He is out of form. We can look for excuses but he is an average player who plays 4 very good games a year when in form.

Send him home to his mum for a couple of days. A bit of country air and a couple of good home cooked roasts could do wonders for the boy  !!

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

Our game style does not suit a Big man up forward. Kosi could be a victim of having to continually run from the wing back to the forward line and then try and contest when he is stuffed.

There are a couple of good movies coming up.
Maybe he should skip training and go watch Robin Hood  :P

This is a team game and there is no room for individuals who think they are above walking through the fire.

Did anyone else notice that he flew most times last night with only one arm.

I do wonder if there's a problem with his shoulder?

He doesn't use his arms or hands. Always tries to take chest marks that either bounce off or get punched away.

That double fisted punch that many have bought up is a bit unfair IMO. Had to work really hard to get to that contest and was at full stretch to reach it, IMO was on a bad angle and with the speed of the ball and a relatively low trajectory was little chance of marking. Just wanted to kill the contest IMO.

I may be wrong but thats how I read it.

Maybe this year?

I thought same -there was one in the goal square in pack that he almost snaffled and I wondered what that wouldve done for him and teams confidence had he held it......he got both hands on it too......

He needs another option up fwd we are hanging himout up there on his own. Stanley at the least (with a Goddard pinch hitting on occasion) is our best chance at having a taller, lead up option that also adds speed and defensive pressure when in our fwd 50.

Adding a McEvoy, Blake even Dawson to a Kosi in fwd 50 is asking for a rebound nightmare when it hits the deck.

Interesting. I thought the rumour was that the weight loss was due to illness?????

Where did you hear it was by club direction? Was it an interview with one of our coahes or Zac himself?
